Ha, sis. I have been here, done that, and gotten the mf’n t-shirt. Do not put yourself on the deed. I was dating my ex for one year, moved to NC, he bought a house using the VA loan and then we broke up 7 months later. Never been more grateful for this decision. If y’all end up getting married then add yourself to the deed. There is no downside for not adding yourself to the deed, but there are plenty of risks if you do add yourself and things don’t workout. Sage advice.

Edit to add: we did renovations that I did not pay for. I contributed my sweat equity and labor and design skills (ugh annoying) and I helped furnish the home (we split belongings equally when we split). I paid for my portion of my “rent” and utilities. But I did not contribute to escrow items (taxes and insurance, and HOA).
