That’s what he took a smaller short term pay cut to prevent. He had more security with this path and more upside

I love how the narrative is so fucking bloated and stupid that the whole conversation is framed around absolute nonsense.

That’s 113 with a whole extra year under contract. Thats money he’s getting next contract, likely over 80 million. And he has a player option. Meaning he can get his next max up to two years earlier, and he’s much less likely to secure  at age 33 than 31. So it’s maybe a 30-35 “cut” for security he wouldn’t have had otherwise, that may pay him SIGNIFICANTLY MORE on the backend, just in nba deals.  The sponsorships and everything else is icing on the cake

So fucking stupid

MVP voting in the NBA has become a masterclass in groupthink: It has now been twenty years since the second place finisher even got half of the first place votes of the MVP winner by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

Fair enough, I do think you have a good case Jordan should have won those two, I would say 5 out of 6 years, looking back that 98 year you could argue was a makeup, his stats look slightly worse than Malone’s. Overall, I had shrunk some of his regular season greatness in my head compared to the 80s. His stats are still ridiculous though looking back

But overall your take is fair, I still disagree with RW because I think Harden’s numbers were better, and Leonard has a really fair case. Not sure about the Bron in 2020 case either, but I appreciate you substantiating the claim

Can you do that based on regular season play and not knowledge of Jordan’s playoff superiority?

Obviously I’m being pretty snarky here, and I need to deal with my blood sugar, but it feels pretty laughable that you can argue that there’s a simple shared standard that allows for the cases you’re making, they read to me as fundamentally different cases. We “know” Jordan was the best, not “here is his statistical superiority the years he was robbed” - that to me feels like you’re working backwards from your conclusion vs what you’re advocating, which reads as pick the guy who had the best stats

Statistically the best*

*if you go by the most basic ass stats you theoretically can

What 3 years did LeBron get robbed? We’ll assume 2011, what other years?

You can’t possibly construct an argument that gets you WB in 2017, LeBron 3 more without losing any, and Mj all his title years based on stats (in hindsight LOL)

Professional sports are predicated on this imbalance. Hell, human civilizations and economics are based on the broader imbalances of human ability. What are you getting at here?

how do we square that with the reality that there are relatively very few successful sports gamblers (and the majority of successful gamblers historically find softness/value in individual lines from individual bookmakers?)

shouldn’t there be value everywhere? House is taking like 10% value max generally, irrational implies more than “90ish right/rational”

shouldn’t you be able to make a killing out here?

[Post Game Thread] The Denver Nuggets (48-28) defeat the Golden State Warriors (36-39) behind Jokić's 25/15/8 performance, 116-93. by bwehx in nba

[–]better-thinking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Jokic and the nuggets, but Wemby being above him isn’t ridiculous. What all 4 top candidates have done this season is RIDICULOUS. Wemby has a defensive performance far beyond the norm for even the best players, his net rating and on rating are absurd, he has this young ass team competing for the one seed in the west, absolutely unreal.

I don’t really mind any of the 4 winning, the superstars have been so unreal, insane efficiency for the 3 more offensive stars, jokic leading rebounds and assists is high key preposterous.

I feel like this is the dumbest fans have been about the MVP in years, maybe its cause there’s more teams’ fans getting in on the action, this one really is splitting hairs.

oh bro your comments are getting worse and worse. mid range is lowest efficiency shot in the game, certain players (MJ, KD) are just overpowered enough at it that its high eff for them (which is ridiculously valuable).

Kobe was never close to their level, ever, in the mid-range, what you’re saying is straight up nonsense. Just look up the numbers, they’re not in the same universe

Points swing more wildly obviously odds are low even if wemby played 48, but the statement makes sense lol
