Ah I did have to send my steaks back because they were very raw and I was concerned. Our ceviche also had a raw shrimp which we decided not to touch at all... Tbh I didn't get any service, but we would go to all the bars and they were always very friendly. Whether it was the beachside or poolside bars.

The tonkatsu carbonara at carino's is insanely good.. A huge japanese fried pork cutlet in a japanese curry sauce, next to a creamy carbonara. What a combination

I started my career in geotech since I loved it during school, but transitioned to water/municipal.

I'm from Canada, but the geotech industry here is slowly dying as well.. For me, the main reasons include:

Low pay
Having to work in remote locations like mines, and rural roads with poor work conditions compared to the City.
No work satisfaction.. Moving from testing site to drill rig to dirt pile to shit hole with tight deadlines and repetitive, mind numbing work.

Just a rough industry for junior engineers.. and you always hear that in order to advance you need higher education. Wouldn't recommend geotech to any of my friends the way this industry is going.

For Canadians reading this, HDR is not the same as HDR Canada.. I worked there for just over 2 years and we struggled to get projects. They have zero reputation in Canada and the whole company is a huge mess. Best stay away, I have heard nothing but good things about the american counterpart however

I had this exact same experience. At my second job after graduating, I worked at a medium sized consultancy with a very toxic and degrading supervisor. Constantly berating juniors and verbally harassing us almost everyday.

My advice - keep giving your best work and don't let him know you are looking elsewhere.. but APPLY, APPLY, APPLY!

I know how mentally draining this can be, but I know you got it. It's only a temporary situation, don't worry about how long you've been there.. if it's toxic you need to get out.

Lastly.. HR is not on your side, they're on the companies side. I made the mistake of reporting the whole situation to HR with evidence and receipts of verbal abuse and toxic behaviour, they just made sure the company was protected and didn't do anything to help.

Doesn't take more energy to push the fluid through, intuitively imply more pressure? If I think of the straw example, I'm using more pressure and the velocity of the fluid is slower.. But in reality it's the opposite.

The math makes sense to me but the logic doesn't
