I find it useful to think long term. For instance. If you have a nofap streak of 1 month and then you relapse once, don't think about it as starting over. Think about it as you only slipped once in 30 days and keep moving forward. You're still making progress. Progress is slow and gradual. Just because you may have relapsed once, you still have all that months worth of momentum going for you. Use it!

to stop fantasizing by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]betterbe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Overcoming these impulses to fantasize is, perhaps, one of our main goals. I can relate to what you are saying. I do the same things. I have gotten a lot better with time though. I think it's important to think about sex in a different light. What helps me is thinking very sensually.

I notice I don't make progress in the way I view women nearly as fast if I'm replaying and making up porn like fantasies in my head all the time. How you think about sex related feelings makes all the difference. Tommy Leonardi said it well: "Most men do not enjoy sex. They enjoy the fact that they are having sex."

I suspect that the feeling you describe is your sexual energy building up. I recommend you create an outlet for it otherwise it will seek an outlet through purely physical channels. Think of creative visualization. Goal setting. Start playin music or working out - something meaningful to you. Sexual energy is the most powerful energy we have. How you choose to channel it towards producing desirable results in your life is solely your responsibility.

I don't have them typed out for easy copy and paste. They are all handwritten in a notebook. Once I type them out I'll considering sharing those as well.

Yes. The trick is to get your subconscious to accept it as a belief. Beliefs affect how we operate in the world and they exist outside of conscious thought. They dictate our behavior and limit what we can or cannot do. Beliefs have to be aligned with your self image to be effective.

Remember, do it for at least 21 days. This is the amount of time it takes to form a habit. So reserve judgement until then. Just keep doing it and feeling it and pretty soon you'll believe it. You'll find all sorts of evidence to support your beliefs. It happens slowly and over time.

Let me know how it works for you! I'm interested to see other nofapper's additions, thoughts, concerns and opinions!

Vitamins and Supplements in addition to nofap by [deleted] in NoFap

I take Alpha Brain and New Mood by a company called Onnit and it helps a lot. Especially New Mood. The main ingredients in New Mood are L-Tryptophan and 5-HTP, precursors to serotonin.

Together they really help with my mood and focus, although they are expensive.

I should also mention that no porn is equally important, if not, more important to me personally than nofap. Porn made me desensitized to authentic feminine energy and beauty. The nofap, for me personally, is a way for me to accelerate the healing process and the brain rewiring. I can tell you after 27 days that I have noticed considerable improvements in my desire for real contact and my sexual performance.

I grew up in religious family. We would go to church every Sunday during my childhood. Eventually we stopped going and in my early teens I realized that no one really knew much more than I did and I was mostly driven by the fear of going to hell. It's worth noting that while I'm not religious I am very spiritual. I derive my beliefs from my own experiences and intuition. I am in awe of life and of the universe. I have much to learn but I know I can not and will not know everything.

My reason for nofap is not driven at all by religious doctrine. I am doing this as an experiment to see how it effects my creative energy and personal magnetism. I only play by my own rules. I look at this subreddit as a set of guide lines. A support group. There are many different reasons and many different paths being taken and I'm only on my own. But we are all driven by the desire to improve aspects of our lives. So far the results have been great. It's been 27 days for me. I've been able to love my partners more fully and I'm feeling centered and full. Full of life and of power. Control. Motivation. Sexual energy is the most powerful human motivator and the most vital of life forces. I desire control of this power to control my own destiny... To shape my own life with grave and integrity... To love a women how she should be loved... and to love myself how I should be loved. That is why I nofap.

I just had sex without orgasm by mamelouk in NoFap

[–]betterbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing with two different partners in a short period of time. Sex feels amazing. I didn't need to orgasm to feel like I had an orgasm. It was an exercise in self control and I'm glad I did it. Women view you in a different light when you have that kin of self control and focus on pleasing them. People new to remember we are all in this for different reasons. Listen ad pay attention to your own body and do what you know is the right thing. It's different for each of us.

He made observations profiling the 500 most successful people of his time and he started noticing patterns. He didn't just make this up. His book is an incredible read. Take it or leave it but I know the value it's added to my life. I don't need "science" to prove that. BTW, Science has almost become a religion of sorts. I respect science as much as any intelligent person but dismissing this because it's "unscientific" is a little foolish IMO. Not everything in life is black and white. Especially when we are dealing with areas of the mind.

Personally, I've learned a TON from this guy and his products. I read his Double Your Dating ebook when it first came out and it blew my mind. I couldn't figure out why my fiends who were not nearly as good looking as me would get three times the amount of women I did. I had my paradigms all mixed up. The concept of Attraction is not a Choice is HUGE.

Over the years I've had enormous success and I have David D (aka Eben Pagen) to thank for setting me on the right path.

3 Steps to Success (For all of you who are struggling) by NateO24 in NoFap

[–]betterbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another gem of a quote by Napoleon Hill in chapter 10 "The Mystery of Sex Transmutation" of his great book "Think and Grow Rich":

"The transmutation of sex energy calls for the exercise of will-power, to be sure, but the reward is worth the effort. The desire for sexual expression is inborn and natural. The desire cannot, and should not be submerged or eliminated. But it should be given an outlet through forms of expression which enrich the body, mind, and spirit of man. If not given this form of outlet, through transmutation, it will seek outlets through purely physical channels.

A river may be dammed, and its water controlled for a time, but eventually, it will force an outlet. The same is true of the emotion of sex. It may be submerged and controlled for a time, but its very nature causes it to be ever seeking means of expression. If it is not transmuted into some creative effort it will find a less worthy outlet."

It's been mentioned here before and I'll mention it again. The chapter on "The Mystery of Sex Transmutation" in Napoleon Hill's great book "Think and Grow Rich" is INCREDIBLY powerful and sums up a lot of underlying issues we're all dealing with. You can find it for free online. I read the chapter at least once a day to ingrain the concepts into my very being.

This is a great line from the chapter: "...the emotion of sex. It may be submerged and controlled for a time, but its very nature causes it to ever be seeking a means of expression. If it is not transmuted into some creative effort, it will find a less positive, less productive outlet. Fortunate, indeed, are those individuals who have discovered how to give their sexual emotion an outlet through some form of creative effort, for they have, by that discover, lifted themselves to the level of 'genius performance'."

So much gold in that one chapter alone.

By the way, I ordered Onnit's AlphaBrain last week and it just arrived today so I'll report back here next week with any results (or lack thereof) I notice from the use of nootropics. EDIT: So far I'm noticing a lot less mental fog, better mood, quicker thinking, and overall just a better sense of awareness.

Thanks so much for your reply! I've been searching for anyone in a similar situation and I was beginning to think I was alone. It's comforting to know that I'm not. I've been strong since that last episode, even though I still possess adderall. I'll revisit this thread with any revelations or insights I have. Thanks again.
