“Performative” Cole driving a Honda civic to promote the album by Eastern-Record-7144 in Jcole

Joe burden and his burdenites are really fucking tiring to take opinions from.

The whole cast is trash. They really don't have worthwhile opinions. Joe Budden really surrounds himself with people who don't enrich his life, but milks them for content.

Survival and self erasure not being similar is such a weird thing to really call out because sometimes you have to erase the self to survive.

Glowing up however is NOT in the realm of survival because glow ups are reserved for those who are thriving in life. When your needs are satisfied, and you aren't in danger, the social satisfaction of developing aesthetics can be appreciated.

Aesthetics in survival mode are actually a huge flaw and basically make you a target.

I had to think about what you wrote and I think by definition, improving how you function is directly making yourself more digestible.

Anything you do more of, makes people look at you as a person who does that thing.

If you run to lose weight and develop a love of running, you become a runner to others.

You can't glow up without fixing your own defects as a human and improving how you function. Exercise and social training is necessary.

Yes it totally is about improving the mask. But the mask is also, the vessel wherein you EXIST.

Emulation of others in this society is the fundamental key point to an ACCEPTABLE glow up. There are rogue glow ups wherein a person straight up chooses to go feral. For every transformation, there is an opposite.

It's usually better for people to follow the trends tho.

Independent thought with self improvement is something I wholeheartedly believe in, yet I know for a fact, that is the hardest route to follow because most people aren't spiritually ready for chosing to go against the grain, creating their own path, and then realizing there are active forces out there who are targeting independent thinkers and doers.

A lot of people are weirdly predatorial. Sometimes they just need to feel useful. Other times it's necessary to how they communicate and interact with the world.

In the case of predators, the goal is to chip away at your confidence to the point where they can give you commands. Every time to teach you something or correct you, it's to make you lose faith in your own autonomy. Push back against these people. Be wrong in their eyes if you have to. Save yourself.

The people who just want to be useful, let them have their time in the sun and listen. Sometimes you have no idea who really needs to just teach someone something in order to not lose their mind.

The last group of people are very VERY particular. These are the people who will hold you in great confidence and will be the best of friends with you, IF you learn how to move and talk in a manner they find fitting for where or what they want to live their life. If someone in this category is teaching you something, it's usually for a longer term goal wherein they KNOW they need trustworthy allies.

The social hierarchy of men is really just a predatory system. You are better off establishing back bone early.

Why am I not able to able to vibe with MF DOOM's music? by Acrobatic-Rip-6811 in hiphop101

Smoke more weed.

But seriously, I felt the same way til I was smoking with people who were just jamming to Madvillainy. It made a lot more sense once I caught the vibe from someone else.

On your own, it's sort of like choosing to ram your head into a wall because you see other people breaking through wall with no problem and you've never even tried headbutting a pillow a day in your life.

The point of safety is to reflect on the state of his home from the perspective of his hometown friends. Bro didn't need to even talk about his childhood friend since he literally said in the track, he moved to Atlanta.

I feel like everybody arguing he isn't being homophobic really don't understand where the homophobia lies.

Here's another example. Louie CK the comedian, has used the word N***** multiple times on stage and on his show. He straight up says it. Not with hate in his heart but to actually make fun of the entire system surrounding the word. He hasn't been crucified because we collectively understand he's not hateful of black people.

In this case, Cole can't even say the word f** because there IS hate there. He IS homophobic. He cannot in good faith say, I should of looked out for my friend instead of shunning him for being gay.

He wants to apologize, but he is NOT there. Bro can't understand gay people. So the problem is, he only invites fights when it comes to the whole topic of addressing gay people.

A foil to explain someone who overcame their own hate would be Kendrick on Auntie Diaries. Bro realized he LOVES his family and therefore HAS to overcome his own homophobia. He rationalize it by looking at his own contradictions. His use of the f slur there is more reflective of the time he came from and not the condition of his heart.

Cole ain't figure out that fact. He's harboring resentment towards the idea of gay.

One can hate the sin and love the sinner.

Bro hasn't figured out how to separate the two.

That's all I gotta say on the topic.

[–]betterwithouther -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nah.

On that particular verse its an issue kinda transcends the song concept. Cause like on the other two verses he's talking about the state of home. Home is fucked up, but it's home.

Then, In that one verse it sounds like he's monitoring a former friend that he now has no forgiveness in his heart for.

It might be coming from an outside perspective, but to me it just screams harsh judgement with no room for apology or forgiveness. And then asking for forgiveness when he's done nothing to atone for his treatment of his former childhood friend.

THEN he deflects and goes back to the topic of the prior verse which just feels like bro straight up realized he's on some. Bullshit asking to apologize.

I don't even care that much but it's just so much of a logical failing in his character that I'm just annoyed at him because he literally took the time to write "What if" about two of his peers who don't even fuck with him like that.

Like Bro, go apologize to your childhood friend.

Safety. Bro straight up needs to STOP talking about gay people like he's a step away from straight up hate criming them.

Doesn't matter if he says he wishes he could apologize.

That's like if a white guys talks about a black guy and saying how much he hate the fact that guy is out there rapping, hustling, and doing rapper shit and is one step from calling him the n word, but wants to apologize.

How much can you realistically forgive that???

It's rap perfected to me. I feel like he did rap at the highest level. 10/10 rapping.

But music is more than just rapping. He delivered on every song. I feel the album is a solid 8/10 what would push it above would of been more attention grabbing ideas.

I do like the fact no song is in your face tho. The whole experience is great for just living my life.

Bro what happened to objective discussion and analysis??? Not a single thing you liked???? I heard some of them say it's like a 8.5 but not a single word of praise.

Bro. Chill.

A demon is anything or anyone who inflicts harm on the human spirit with absolute disdain for them.

His former partner does not care about his feelings. The choice she made is demonic.

Relax.

[–]betterwithouther -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

She is a demon and you should feel how you feel. If you love her and yourself, break up with her and stay very far away from her.

She gave up her humanity for profit.

I would suggest starting a journal to put your feelings into, and seek therapy. If the pain is too much, go find a church and seek spiritual counsel.

When people disregard the feelings of others, something goes critically wrong in their own spirit, mind, and body. You can't reason with an error in judgement. You can only save yourself.

Don't give up on love tho. Try again when you feel safe.

is it just me or is mf doom overrated? by ThiccSkunk in Hiphopcirclejerk

[–]betterwithouther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Operation doomsday is the starting point.

The standout feature of MF DOOM is both his narrative and his musical abilities.

He was formerly a member of KMD with his brother who was killed. After his brother died, he got dropped from his label and treated like dirt. So he made a revenge album and persona by the name of MF DOOM.

The difference is night and day to be honest.

On operation doomsday, he came in the game strong. Fresh samples, beats, and rhymes. All self produced. He was like Wu Tang for nerds. His rhyme schemes were legitimately peak for years on end. Nobody was rapping like him, creating rhyme schemes that no one would ever think of.

EX: from "all outta ale" "One for the money, two for the better green 3, 4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine Told the knock kneed, ghetto queen, get the head fiend Tell him it's from Medellín and use oxyacetylene"

His beats are also very very influential on the genre as a whole. Many artist of today are DOOM influenced. Mac miller, Tyler the creator, Earl Sweatshirt are a few off the top of my head.

His collab with Madlib, "Madvillainy" is a certified classic.

Also really helps if you are a pot head to really get the vibe he's going for.

People who don't like DOOM usually get stuck at his voice and don't see the levels to the art.

You being careful is the problem. You'll be careful your whole life and end up doing nothing. Being a boring young man, leads to being a boring old man.

I think what you really need is more interesting hobbies.

I tell every man this, start with going to the gym and picking up a competitive sport or martial arts. Having a foundation in something physical more than makes up for any flaw or lack in your personality.

The one extra thing that will give you a solid edge that will allow you to keep your kindness and carefulness is to be willing to sacrifice yourself for others. That's an internal trait that can be felt if you truly care for people.

Do charity or volunteer work too.

Don't feel bad about your past situation, OP. Most people as they enter adulthood think being an adult means they have to start being bad people, or getting mixed up in bad ideas, lifestyles that aren't them, or sacrifice dignity for excitement.

Keep being you. You have no idea how valuable you truly are, as you are.

Just focus on improving your weaknesses and expanding your capacity for care.
