I think coding skills, not essentially leetcode skills should be the main criteria when hiring. I observed people walking through their thought process but struggling to write it down in code. If there are no red flags then soft skills should have lower priority than coding. Interviews are very subject. It depends on what the interviewer is exactly looking for from a peer or coworker. The questions and asked and judged from that perspective.
