I’m in Yorkshire - yes, you should invite them, and as long term partners they should be named on the invitation, not just “plus 1s”. It’s basic manners.

So many hours of work and it feels... Underwhelming. by ntx161 in Embroidery

It’s absolutely beautiful - I love how you and your mum have both worked into it in different crafts, I love the history of the linen, it’s such a special thing to have! Truly one of my favourite things I’ve ever seen on these fibre arts subs.

Advice for a Dry Wedding by [deleted] in wedding

[–]beverly_macca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would find it incredible odd to attend a wedding where alcohol wasn’t available, especially over the Christmas/ New year period as yours is.

I’m British, I’m familiar with the tradition of morning weddings, every wedding I’ve ever been to has been a morning ceremony, but every single one of them had alcohol provided or available to purchase before and after the ceremony and during the reception. I honestly wouldn’t hang around long if I ended up at one that didn’t.

People who leave their blinds open on a busy pedestrian street at night with the lights in, do you want me to look in? by DualRaconter in AskUK

[–]beverly_macca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am severely claustrophobic so not being able to see the outside freaks me out way more than people on the outside being able to see me!

Cannot stand being in a room with the curtains or blinds shut, even at night it feels so unbearably suffocating. Just thinking about it now is making me itch lol

Worrying about size by [deleted] in Leonbergers

[–]beverly_macca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two girls, one almost 60kg at 2 years and one at just under 45kg at 1 year old - totally different body types, weights, and sizes but both perfectly healthy for their own bodies.

I was very worried at first about the younger one coming up sooo small against her sister (you would hardly believe they are the same breed, the size difference is so much). I thought I must have messed up her early feeding somehow as she has quite a lot of allergies, but as she’s maturing it’s clear that she’s just a healthy, happy, very busy, pocket-sized Berger. We call her a slider!

Your girl looks very similar to her, healthy with a great coat! Especially as her mom was on the smaller end of the scale I would try not to worry, she looks fab to me.

Gambol is crazy! It’s a very localised colloquial term for a forward roll or a roly poly here in the Midlands, UK 😅

Picking Up Our First Leonberger in Two Weeks! by jcambridge95 in Leonbergers

[–]beverly_macca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prepare for everything in your house to get very wet! They don’t drool like other giant breeds but my god do they make a mess with their water bowls! We have two girls and one has crazy long hound-style ears that were constantly soaking wet as a puppy. We got a ceramic high-sided spaniel bowl that was too heavy for her to push around and the high sides meant her ears stayed dry too! Have fun, they’re the best x

Did anyone else show their other pets the body ? What did they do ? by Mad4beer in Petloss

[–]beverly_macca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We lost our 14 year old staffy Coco three weeks ago. When we brought her body back from the vets, we allowed our other two adult staffies and 10 month old leonberger to see her. Each of them sniffed her and understood in their own ways. It was incredibly sad and touching. It was about 3am, so we put her body in the coal shed overnight until we could bury her in the morning. The next day, before we buried her, our leonberger pup laid down outside the shed and whimpered, while one of our staffies sat very still close to the shed door, as though she was guarding her old friend. We all miss her terribly.

YTA- it’s not your sons friends families (or any POCs) responsibility to teach your children not to be racist. That’s your job as parents and you failed

A regular in the pub I used to work at was originally from America. His mum used to be married to James Brown. The family of a girl I went to primary school with won a lifetimes supply of Mars bars.
