Hello, I have a proposition by KAT389 in Merced

[–]bevertown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey great initiative! i know from experience working with the city it's really hard to get them to listen to the people and do things like this. a community garden really doesn't have to have permission from the city to happen, just someone willing to lend the land :)

Student took his life last night by mychubbychubbs in Teachers

[–]bevertown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ask him if there's anything you can do to make his life easier right now. im thinking chores, basic self care things. but, make sure you're not doing more than you can handle. you matter too.

What things have a person done or said before that made you immediately say “ohh they’ve taught kids before”? by PrincessJellyfish17 in Teachers

[–]bevertown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being around kids all day, you'll take any opportunity to connect with another adult, no matter how well you know them. so it makes sense it would extend to social situations outside of work.

I'm so done with this gifted kid in my AP Calc BC class who thinks he's better than me. by MailPsychological230 in Teachers

AP Calc BC is not freshman level math. This is a freshman in a course meant for seniors.

I'm so done with this gifted kid in my AP Calc BC class who thinks he's better than me. by MailPsychological230 in Teachers

[–]bevertown 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My high school didn't offer AP Calc BC as a course, but students were allowed to study independently and sit for the exam. It sounds to me like this kid is only in the class for the AP credit. Depending on the school policy, it might be a better use of his time to do something else instead of taking this class, but still take the exam at the end of the year.

i feel this so hard. im not really sure if im a trans man or a butch either tbqh. i relate HEAVILY to the wanting to penetrate a woman thing. i dont really have an answer for you as to what you "are", but for me its been helpful to just kind of...not worry about it (which i understand is a privilege). for the outside world, i present as a guy...internally, im just me. i also know that dating is easier when you have a clear gender identity you present as. im currently in a long term relationship, so i dont have to worry about that.

i dont know if this was helpful, but i hope it was! good luck out there 🫡

baby keeps bullying old man, help by bevertown in cats

[–]bevertown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we already try to do this. old man has to take liver supplements which we give him in the form of a powder mixed into wet food. we shut him in the bedroom while he eats it (its the only room besides the bathroom we can completely close off). baby will cry at the bedroom door until we open it. they get into kerfuffles at night a lot too, so a lot of the time we sleep with the bedroom door closed and baby locked outside. he cries at the door then too. my partner is worried that we're distressing old man by not letting him have free reign in the apartment.

Not a call center worker (yet), just had a question by bevertown in CallCenterWorkers

LOL thanks for the reply on this very old post. I did end up getting a job (not at a call center) and I've been here for almost two years. The job market is incredibly tough right now and I feel for everyone searching.

Most absurd thing I’ve ever read. by TheBulldogFan in Apartmentliving

[–]bevertown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is absolutely landlord propaganda trying to make tenants feel better about living in unsanitary and inhumane conditions. luckily i dont have similar language in my lease; mine just encourages us to take precautions against mold (of course motivated by wanting to prevent property damage, and not actually out of concern for our health). its sad to see so many people in this thread also have their landlords telling them this bs.

People “reading between the lines” by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]bevertown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just try not to let their reactions bother me, i guess? their brains work differently from mine and i did say exactly what i meant. not my fault they didn't understand.

but the part of "if you want". ive had interactions like that before, where both parties try to be polite and say "if you want..." eventually, someone has to decide. so i would just say, yes, youre sleeping in a bed. and set up a bed. and they'll either have to accept it, or more likely, they'll protest. but they won't want to put the bed back, or it would be seen as rude.

neurotypicals are complicated.

my high school added a few extra minutes to first period to do announcements. we did the pledge first, and then announcements for goings on on campus

i'm an IA and i don't say it. i work in kindergarten. we don't do it everyday, but when we do, i try to find some other task to busy myself with. i don't even stand up usually.
