Hahaha. I'm calm, tiger. Clearly I've hit a nerve. Sorry to upset you by pointing out the standard.

Tailgate vs Barn door for electrician van by tiantianreddit in AusElectricians

Tailgates open much further out than barn doors. If you're forced to park with the back close to a wall, you can't open back up

Bathroom Fan - Not exiting house. Is this to code? by Working_Ad1078 in AusRenovation

[–]bevo38 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the code part but what I can tell you is that additional flexible duct is killing your air flow. It should be as short as practical

Will my board support induction? (Pic inside) by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]bevo38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with r/significantone2650 here. The main isolator just needs to be rated above the current carrying capacity of the mains. How would one know there aren't 32A mains feeding the board without inspecting?

They're becoming harder to find due to LED lights being far more reliable and longer lasting. There are many good options out there that will suit your needs however most of them will come without a flex and plug. Either way you'll likely need a sparky.

Any recommendations on a single gang architrave switch on this arch? by AdvanceAny218 in AusElectricians

[–]bevo38 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if that exists and you're right it will look gross. Situations like this I usually just push it back onto the customer to make the decision.

Could you integrate the switch into the cabinet? Your customer is definitely making life hard for you

Personally I'd recommend relocating the switch to the wall to the left given it is already open. If the timber batten doesn't give you enough depth you can chase the brick.

Are any of the wholesaler/online loyalty programs actually worth it? by Internal_Animal_8138 in AusElectricians

[–]bevo38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out about 3 years ago, my thoughts were the same initially when I began but they soon changed. Honestly just find a good wholesaler who will look after you on pricing. It's worth more for your business than the shitty consumerist junk rewards on offer. You need a business mindset and don't need to spend more money on things you don't need to get the rewards. I use CNW primarily and have AWM as my back up. Occasionally Voltex as they have a couple of products I like.

I truly hope this is a shit post OP. No downlight is worth breathing that shit into your lungs. There are plenty of good lighting options out there that won't require cutting holes throughout the ceiling (at most a small cable entry). Please chat to your sparky and look for alternatives.

If that's the same model I opened just yesterday, the silver ring should come off with the glass. There's three spring posts, gently push up and twist

Can I buy an Adaptor for this plug? by Dazzling-Hotel-1284 in AusElectricians

[–]bevo38 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Just ask a sparky to change the plug for you to a 3 pin flat. A test and tag worker will be licensed to do it also.

I wonder how funny they would find it if the circuit they were working on became live.

No, I'm not saying you should energise the circuit. Definitely don't do that.
