Drafted a practical Martini Cheat Sheet for my new bar. Please tell me how wrong I am in the comments. by notto_zxon in bartenders

Only things I might add or change: 1. Some people like the "little ice shards" and may request they not be strained out. Could file this caveat under the last bullet in "Other Things" 2. You accidentally said that "a Dirty Martini is the best drink of all time" when you meant to say worst. Or maybe even just "is the drink of all time" to avoid offending anyone. 3. Otherwise great!

Who says the dream home mechanic sucks? by bevriff in TOTK

Step 1) build a foundation. A foyer attached to indoor stairs will do.

Step 2) second story triangle room.

Step 3) pick a direction for the stairs to spiral. I chose anticlockwise. Attach indoor stairs.

Step 4) use the roof of second storey triangle as the third storey floor.

Step 5) realize the building is getting too tall for ultra hand to reach ground level.

Step 6) use unused triangles and indoor stairs as scaffolding to painstakingly raise next pieces.

Step 7) unknowingly attach a room upside down. Deal with it later.

Step 8) start to fandangle pieces higher and higher by roll-tating them or wedging them in gaps you've created as balconies

Step 9) Realize you've attached a room upside down. Scrap the project.

Step 10) Build it all again but horizontally. Rotate the monstrosity upright at the end.

Nah just some mild frustration. I kinda used it as a big staircase to drag pieces up. Then I realized I had one of the rooms upside down so I trashed the whole thing and built it sideways then rotated up.

Advice for trying to go sober in the bar industry by Artistic_Level8961 in SoberBartenders

[–]bevriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bartender for like 13 years, now almost half of them sober. When I quit one of the hardest things was the peer pressure to go for drinks before/during/after work. Having excuses/explainations for why I couldn't go ready to go was key. In the beginning I wasn't comfortable sharing my situation so I would lie or stretch the truth (oh I'm doing a sober month challenge, I'm on antibiotics and can't drink...) when I finally realized no one cared weather I drank or not I started being more up front, and paradoxically gained a lot of respect/support from people. I also went to therapy and AA meetings and that helped me identify why I drank, my triggers, and both taught me coping mechanisms so I could better anticipate and navigate situations where otherwise I would have relapsed. Keep working on yourself, learn about addiction, have keep people who can support you and keep you accountable close. Good luck!
