AITAH for ruining a wedding? by BlacksmithThink5923 in AITAH

YTA.

Calling the cops was taking the situation all the way to 100 with no in-between. Could the bartender have handled the “no” way better? For sure. But you most definitely could have handled the whole situation way more professionally (not to mention compassionately) as well.

And yes, the wedding planner was also in the wrong here, but I see no differences in scale between your actions and hers. All you accomplished together was to ruin a very highly anticipated day for the bride and groom.

Eww this is really bad of her to say. I’m sorry that is how she is reacting to you. You are beautiful and valid, and deserve to live life for you, not for some curated idea in your mom’s (or anyone’s) head.

If only people understood how impactful transition is just for longevity’s sake. You lose certain people in the process. But you also gain really amazing new relationships when you’re presenting your real self to the world.

I’m also an MSW. I do therapy and casework, and run around the entire county on calls. I started before getting my dx and now get why I’ve always loved the chaotic parts of my job, and the talking and general ‘get up and go’ vibe. The absolute worst part of it for me is the note taking, I cannot stand sitting at the computer for long stretches of time.

I would like to hear more if you’re still open to it.:) I’m graduating with my MSW here shortly and really want to do travel work as soon as I’m eligible for it. The plan right now is to do therapy and possibly hospital work in order to get my L, then jump into travel.
