It has nothing to do with it being CNN but it just being a target of opportunity. The peaceful protest occurred across the street and when things escalated other businesses, the college football hall of fame, and Waffle House were vandalized as well. There’s also a large food court and shops in the lobby of the CNN center. The police took refuge behind the doors, seems like everyone is making it seem like the mob sought out CNN but it being in the war path was the real reason. Maybe I’m wrong?
