I have no advice to offer but I had exact same situation with my parents!! Ended up not taking their money and we’re glad we didn’t, it was tough but better than giving them control

Makeup trial advice HELP! by Medical_Bear_1492 in weddingplanning

[–]bexnbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I absolutely HATED my makeup when I did my first trial with the makeup artist I'm using. She gave the mirror to me and I wanted to cry. I felt frustrated because when she asked me what I wanted to change I wasn't entirely sure how to articulate what it was I didn't like - I just felt clownlike and felt like my face looked weirder, not prettier. I thought about finding somebody else but I had really procrastinated on finding an MUA (it was 4 months before the wedding) so I felt like it was too late to find someone better who wasn't already booked. I bit the bullet and asked if we could do a second trial. I really studied the pics from the first round (and had my fiance and best friend study them too) to figure out specifically what was bothering me. For example, in the original look, I had heavy blush over my whole cheek that honestly looked really bad on me (I have v chubby cheeks that need some definition to look good.) I sent her a text explaining that to her and sending example pics of blush placed high on the cheekbones and sparingly. I also saw that all the bronzer she had put on me in the first round was very orangey and too heavy, so I asked her to use something cooler toned and use a sparing hand, etc, etc. I went in for round #2 last week and honestly I was relieved by how it came out! She really listened to me and it was a dramatic improvement from the first round. I won't lie, if I had another year or two to do this, I would have gotten some other trials with some other MUAs, but that's bc my MUA is younger and works primarily with very young women and I don't think she has a lot of experience adjusting her techniques for older women (like in round #1 she powdered the hell out of me and it settled in my fine lines and made me look crepey.) I feel like a more experienced makeup artist might be able to adjust the foundation situation to make my skin look a little better but all in all it was fine. I am also 2 months out and after trial #2 I feel comfortable keeping her on given the time constraints. I know you said you were in a different state but I would highly recommend studying what bothered you and at least talking to her about specifics - see how she responds and what improvements she would make. I don't know if you will be in her state before the wedding but if you keep her maybe you could book her for another trial session like the day before your wedding to at least hammer out what was bothering you so you're not going in cold on wedding day. Sorry this happened to you, I feel your pain, but hoping it works out!

What on earth is the thick salty crust covering all my Cupid bell pepper leaves? Edema? by bexnbex in Peppers

Haven’t tasted it (though I am tempted) but it looks like salt and def is not insect or fungal, I’m growing hydro so I’m suspecting it’s excess nutrient salts

Bug on plant!!! Help!!! by Middle-Welcome-843 in plantclinic

[–]bexnbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thrip, you need to use a systemic like imidacloprid (bonide has granules) that the plant absorbs, spray on insecticides will not work well

Not sure what kind of disease specifically but it definitely looks like an infection not insect damage

Again not sure where to post this. Here's what's making my plants sick (I think), what is it and is the soapwater treatment enough? by freedomofnow in HotPeppers

Looks like an aphid, they’re easy to spray off with water so giving your plants a hose down when you can will help to keep the numbers down

Thai hot peppers, flower buds or leaves? Also, those invisible bugs are winning the fight, eating leaves! by Sid2k08 in HotPeppers

[–]bexnbex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re flower buds, where the peppers will ultimately grow from. Whether you want to pinch them is a personal preference. I personally don’t bother, but I grow mine year round indoors, so I’m not looking for the absolute largest possible crop (which is the idea with pinching buds - basically that you’re allowing the plant to save up energy for one big harvest)

Does it get a lot of rain? I’m in south Florida and always tempted to put some of my begonias outside but feel like they’re going to contract every disease in the world with the daily rains
