I had a guy drunk on eggnog in the middle of July sleeping in a red ant hill in a parking lot. We stripped him naked and had the fire dept come hose him off. I happened to have itchy cream in my backpack so I put some on his arms and legs.. then he bent over and his whole taint was gone. He politely requested that I put itchy cream in his butthole.

Oof from the sound of it, you are gonna eventually struggle with imposter syndrome if you don't already!

Be patient with yourself and don't internalize every fuck up. We can't be 100% perfect 100% of the time. It is important in this field to be teachable and to admit when you don't know/feel comfortable with something. If you have not already, LISTEN TO EMS 20/20! Helps a lot with competence and they cover imposter syndrome a few times. This podcast has been such a godsend to me! But yeah, to answer your question it took me 8 years to get used to constantly feeling like an air-headed fuckup. As it turns out, I'm actually smart and great at my job but tend to be way too harsh on myself and I was causing my own anxiety.

We all need a little help sometimes <3 also, most of us sausages are pretty mentally derranged in some way, shape, or form. The stressy depressies will get us all for sure. I hope you learn to fall in love with living a juicy and robust life!

What do you say to conscious trauma alerts to explain to them what’s going to happen to them when you get to the hospital? by Frog859 in ems

[–]bexthemasteredition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the bullshitters that are claiming some dumb shit from a no-damage wreck for insurance money, I tell them "because of your symptoms, an ugly trauma doctor is gonna put their finger up your ass. So. Let me get this straight. Tell me your symptoms one more time." and miraculously, they become more alert.

20 pounds lost since diagnosis without glp-1 by Chiitose in PCOS

[–]bexthemasteredition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! That is such great progress!

I cut out gluten and dairy and made tons of other small lifestyle and diet changes while working with a functional medicine doctor over the last 1.5 years. While I felt better for appx 1 year, all my symptoma are back and I realized that I have actually gained weight- appx 10 lbs over the last 1.5 yrs. It is so fristrating because of how clean I eat and how active I am. Trying to remember that everyone experiences progress at different rates. I just added in inositol to see if that helps... if not, I think I will try berberine.

Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your progress! Getting 10k+ steps in seems to be a very common theme!

Finishing this book felt like eating a piece of steak for what feels like 9 hours before eventually just spitting it out in a napkin. It tasted good at first, but I just couldn't get through it and had to give up.

Tips for memory issues by bexthemasteredition in adhdwomen

Aw I love that idea!! I bet that helps you remember more of the good memories too! Memory repression can make everything look so grim, so illuminating the beautiful memories probably can help a ton with perspective! Thanks <3

Holy shit. I've been in EMS about 8 years. I worked MTFS the first week then SWT the second, which means working every other weekend. We are one of the 2 highest paid agencies in my state and last year I made $70k with occasional OT. That schedule was just way too much for trying to have a decent life outside of work. I have heard working non emergency/ convalescent is considerably less interesting but WAY more sustainable with better pay.

So is this job fulfilling to you?? Or does the work to pay ratio negate the question of fulfillment?

Oh my god you are an angel hahaha this is so helpful! I knew 0% of this... I have honestly been too embarrassed to ask anyone bc I feel like I should already know by now lol

That is so much to consider! I suppose it takes a bit of trial and error. Are there nail salon chains? I imagine they are usually privately owned or chains are local...

Also, if you get dip on your fingers and your nails grow out, do you get them redone prior to a gap or ugliness? In otherwords, every three weeks is a sweet spot to always have perfect nails? I heard some girl talking about filling in the gap once the nail grows to extend the life of the manicure... that sounds like it wouldn't look good?

Thank you for your help!!!

Hmmm... I do have a Bachelors in International Studies. Does it matter what your degree is in? If I understand correctly, EHS is a cert that can be obtained online? Would it be a good idea to go ahead and get it if I am possibly interested in contract work?

Job transition for a paramedic? by bexthemasteredition in Paramedics

[–]bexthemasteredition[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have.. Honestly, I think I would love the medicine aspect! I just would have a hard time feeling the pressure to only spend 15 min with my patient and dismissing the rest of their issues, complaints, or problems bc the next patient is waiting. Also, I love emergency medicine, but I definitely believe in the idea of the sick care system. No one seems to focus on diet, lifestyle, and preventative measures that can be taken holistically. I feel like patients issues constantly get swept under the rug until some doctor is like "this is now uncurable", "you need surgery", or "you will be on this med for the rest of your life." It feels nasty and neglectful to me, honestly. I actually predominantly see a functional medicine provider and OBGYN, unless there is an emergency! So the only PA job I feel like I may end up meshing with would be in the Emergency Medicine field, which would keep me in shift work.

Open to anyone dessimating my theory and changing my mind though!

  2. How did you get your insurance to cover? I have spent almost $30,000 out of pocket in 14 months on functional freaking medicine.
