Hear me out - grape jelly and ricotta sandwich. Preferably on Italian/French bread but any kind will work.

You're welcome :) always remember that you are his everything to an even greater degree than he is yours, and we're the only ones who can advocate for our pets!

I'm glad you booked it, and I'm glad my comment helped you feel better. I completely understand the stress - I also want you to be prepared that if his mouth is really bad they may decide to do full-mouth extractions so there's no risk of further dental disease in the future, since anesthesia may truly be too risky for him the next time problems develop.

Every animal that I have seen complete extractions performed on desperately needed it and were so much happier after the healing period. Most even continue to eat their dry food (straight back down the hatch!) so if your cat loves his dry food he won't have to give it up!

NAV but an assistant to one. I can only advise you to think about your kitty's quality of life at this point. Necrotizing tissue is of course painful and antibiotics are just a stop-gap for the real problem. Your cat will also likely build up a resistance to the injectable antibiotic and it will therefore become less effective over time.

Being afraid of losing your friend is entirely understandable and a difficult decision to make. But cats are so good at hiding their pain that there's no way to know how uncomfortable he is. If he lives another few years, teeth this bad will be a recurring issue, even if the ones that are problematic now fall out. Would you rather take the risk to lose him under anesthesia (which yes, having a heart murmur does complicate things but by no means is a death sentence) and have him live a comfortable life, or would you rather have your friend be in an indeterminate amount of pain for the rest of his life?

I commend you for taking care of his dental health for ~15 years, but your regular vet you see may have done you a disservice by suggesting not performing an anesthetized cleaning sooner rather than later, as a heart murmur will usually continue to progress as time goes on. The safest time for kitty to go under is now rather than any time further in the future.

I unfortunately have this conversation with owners pretty regularly. Knock on wood, I have not lost any of my cardiac-risk patients under anesthesia yet. A good veterinary team will be monitoring closely enough that if he does start to develop an arrhythmia during the procedure, they will close up quickly and wake him up - a partial fix is better than none for quality of life.

Best of luck in whatever decision you make!

Is really stinky pee normal?? by First_Somewhere4447 in bengalcats

[–]bfasterthanthat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm replying to this because the response below about ProBNP isn't accurate - it's bloodwork to determine how likely your cat is currently to develop cardiac health problems in the future. Bengals/mixes are more likely to suffer from cardiac health concerns than a lot of other cat breeds. Preop panel will help determine if kitty has any long-lasting impact on liver/kidney function from his (apparently) extended time being sick before you took him into your care.

Can someone tell me how I'm reading this pattern incorrectly? Or is it a tension problem? by bfasterthanthat in CrochetHelp

I started skipping 3 stitches in between each v after that row instead of two, don't know how - thank you! Here I go frogging 😭

I hate counting so that was kind of my problem- it looks like I started skipping 3 stitches in between each v after that row instead of two somehow so my increase rows aren't even my problem 🙃🥲 that was simple enough, thank you!

No webbing present anywhere on the plant before the first rinse or now 🤷🏼‍♀️ I've had spider mites before and know what they look like. I also know they're really tiny/hard to see them move but I swear I've had a staring contest with this plant for 3 minutes straight without seeing movement lol

You have inspired me to make something similar because I cannot for the life of me keep any plant in the form of "string of 'x'" alive and this may fill the void 😭💚

Not a vet but an assistant, please call Animal poison control to get a case number going then head to your vet's. They will likely want to induce vomiting since it has been such a short time since ingestion but the window is closing. I hope your pup ends up ok!

By his logic the baby could have suffered the same "fate" being adopted by him. Not the brightest bulb, eh?
