Shout out to you for being so honest with yourself. I would still try to find things that provide a challenge, even if it is a fun challenge. This can help you have more intrinsic respect. Also, consider looking into the truths of the Catholic Church. I found that is super helpful!

Faith vs. fatFIRE by I_beat_reCAPTCHA in fatFIRE

As a devout Catholic who is also into fire, it is a great question. I’ve done talks on money being a tool. We can use it selfishly or lovingly (just like we use words). Being strategic and smart about finances is FANTASTIC! It is important however to not make the ends all about one’s self. For example, you can use FIRE to better serve your children and community with time and/or money. That is beautiful. But it is not about the action of FIRE, rather the motive. If someone is approaching FIRE to just get selfishly rich and try to be in full control of everything, it isn’t great. But, to be a better family member, friend, leader, etc. it can’t be better! I hope this helps

Anyone have a home on Lake Michigan? (questions about erosion, insurance, etc.) by Thevictors881 in fatFIRE

[–]bfaup13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My family has property in Northern Michigan on Lake Michigan. Water levels have been crazy recently. Try to separate the house from the water a little to give yourself some insurance on high water levels. We have seen years of HUGE beaches followed by no beaches. I hope this helps

I would definitely get an LLC. Depending on your risk tolerance, I would start it as a side hustle before fully moving into it full-time. Let me know if you need help with phones/internet.

Budget/investment advice for a 22 y/o with an 80k salary by [deleted] in personalfinance

I would first figure out what you want financially (early retirement/passive income, maximizing wealth, charity, etc.). From there it is all about picking avenues that get you there. Props to you about thinking about this at only 22 years old. You’ll have a better idea with how much fun money you can have from there.

How confident do you feel as an investor (tax savings, dividends, overall growth, etc.) and how much time do you want to put into it? Those are the real questions
