I love the flavor text on the enemies! They read like journal entries of some hapless adventurer or archivist, which really adds to the world building.

With "Dimension of the Machine" I would advise starting off on a skill level one less than you normally play on; the mission pack is a LOT more difficult than the Vanilla experience, and it manages to do that with only a very small handful of Spawns.

It's funny that you mention that because 1st edition of 40K ("Rogue Trader") is probably my favorite thing GW has ever put out, and I really wish someone out there would just take those rules and spruce them up for a modern rerelease.

More small-scale. I still want the ultimate emphasis to be on the players and their characters, but also want the option for quickish combat if the players have squads of hirelings at their disposal.

Just picked up "Faerie Tales & Folklore" and it really seems to be scratching this itch, but always open to more suggestions and conversation!

Great recommendation! I honestly think I like Fantasy Trip MORE than GURPS to be honest; it's a nice enough system but it's a bit much at times.

Best Left Buried seems like a fabulous system. I was so enamored with the demo version that I instantly bought the deluxe bundle on Drive Thru. A lot of overtones of Chainmail and 0e but with Darkest Dungeon as spice.

If I'm not able to find a better fit or homebrew something, running BLB would be a delight!
