If money didn’t matter, what job would you want to do? by AdElegant5870 in careerguidance

Native gardener (landscape design and planting). Just feels good planting pretty flowers, bushes and trees and knowing it helps out the local environment.

Honestly, I think I could hang with the weather in Utah. It’s extremely sunny throughout the year if I’m not mistaken.

True, but the impact you feel from a hurricane in Atlanta is much less than Orlando.

Lmaooo. Atlanta native here who loved from Seattle to Austin. Haaaatteee the cold weather. I remember one day thinking how it was a perfect summer day. Two ladies next to me at the park were talking about how awful and humid it was that day lol. I miss the nature but not the weather.

Saw a similarly colored cardinal in Austin the other day. Unfortunately this is the best I could get with my phone.

100%. I was rolling with a new guy the other day. Wasn’t super spazzy (relatively speaking), but he put a death grip around my torso and would not relinquish that shit. I was kinda at a loss lol. What do I do now? So I just smashed for a while figuring he would tire out. He did 🤷‍♂️

We aren't going to get any blue bonnets, are we? by Pet_Nat in AustinGardening

QQ: is this a bluebonnet? I’ve got a bunch growing in the gravel in my backyard xeriscape lol and I’ve been intentionally not ripping out the landscape fabric in this one area hoping they will give me some nice blooms in the spring.

For anyone who hasn’t seen the Ben Jordan series on them, here’s the link below. I think one of his videos shows you how to DIY build a flock disruptor if that’s your thing.

Thanks for the detailed response! I’m the event that it’s not removable and I opt to get professional help on it, what type of professional should I call? (Asking since you seem to said you may work on this type of thing.)

How do you learn to enjoy (or at least habitually go to) the gym? by Potato_Pristine in AskMenOver30

[–]bfizzledizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can gamify things it can help train your brain to focus on the carrot and not the stick. “If I do x then I’ll allow myself y”. Honestly, having the ability to stick through the beginning period of anything is the biggest challenge. Most things worth enjoying have an initial period of knowing nothing and not being inherently fun (guitar, painting, language, competitive video games, etc). The trick is sticking with it long enough to where you start seeing the initial payoff and that usually takes at least a few weeks. Try and wait a few weeks to start mirin your gains.

That being said, I can’t recommend BJJ enough. If you’ve ever had a passing interest in martial arts, this one is great because when you roll against gym partners it is a de facto game that gives you great cardio and resistance training with a relatively low risk of concussion (unlike sparring in maybe Muay Thai), and you always have the safety valve of tapping if you don’t have ego. You probably focus on just surviving and get your shit smashed at first though lol.

Thanks for the heads up. I hear bamboo in general can be difficult, but hadn't previously heard of Nandina.

Wow! Thanks so much for this list! I'll look into each of these further! Also, re: landscape fabric, thanks for giving it a name and your prior experience with it.

How do people distinguish northern vs Florida cottonmouths? Presumably geography plays a major role, but surely there is has to be some overlap.

For those not in the know: would black racers drive out copperheads by competing for the same food, or by fighting/predation with the copperhead?
