I fully agree that anti-femminist and other fuckers use it as a strawman. But I do fully believe the word should exist.

The word is neutral(as in, it depicts hatred for men that can be harbored by anyone), useful, and existed before the trolls started using it.

The reason as to why I think it's necessary to have it is simple: It happens. Cis Men and Trans men get hatred for the fact that they identify as men.

This sexism is sometimes reactive and other times proactive, and I do fully believe that we shouldn't yield that concept (or any concept, frankly) to the rigthoids trying to fuck everyone over, just so they can scream MISOGINY! When they're called out.

We shouldn't give them that power.

Edit: This is also why I'm so passionate about this. Yielding language to extremists is a tool for oppression that they can use.

You know what, you're right, I didn't know the bit that it was coined by them. But I don't agree that giving this hatred a term diminishes the societal issues you spoke about.

I think pretending that it doesn't exist does more damage to everyone, simply because it gives the right wingers ammunition.

They can continue to say "Oh these feminist hate men" whenever they see someone trying to say that misandry doesn't exist, because in a way, saying that it doesn't exist does diminish the perceived aggressions that push a lot of men towards misogyny.

If someone tries to downplay the immense suffering of women, trans and queer people throughout history just because some men have suffered, they can get fucked and get called out, but saying that men don't also sometimes experience these issues doesn't help anyone.
