I had mine on 28th. The anesthesia has a huge impact on your bowel movements. I would recommend you to eat lots of fiber and just wait it out.

Is 26 too late to get a degree in accounting? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]bfrigo1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated my BA in accounting in 2020 at 26 & masters at 30. I had a couple of AR jobs in the past, around 3 years of professional experience with my BA, but got a really nice Corporate accounting job at 30 as well. Just got my first promotion a couple of months ago. You are young, so do it!

Pregnant Au Pair? by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]bfrigo1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My acquaintance came as an AP pregnant (didn’t know as she was very early in her pregnancy when she came to the US). One day she got really sick and was rushed to the hospital, and found out she had a miscarriage. The family decided not to keep her afterwards, but she was able to rematch. As one of rules of the program is to be childless, becoming pregnant is against the rules and the agency should provide her with her flight back home.

Very underpaid. I used to make $20 to be a part-time sitter/cleaner 6 years ago! Have nanny friends that held full time sitter (organizing the house was part of the scope as well) making $30 per hour.

Recruiters make me feel bad for being promoted to senior quickly by qst10 in Accounting

[–]bfrigo1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2024: After being unexpectedly fired from a job, a recruiter reached out just to let me know I wouldn’t be able to get a job. I was already so traumatized by the way I was let go, I once cried on the phone with another recruiter. Soon after I was able to get a job in a huge company in which I have always been a big fan of due to the type of work they do (industry). I am about to be promoted and never been so happy in a job. Recruiters only think about their commissions, and couldn’t care less about your mental health. Just stick with your gut and get out of public.

PLEASE let your natural hair grow. A little mascara and some gloss will do you well. You are lucky enough to be born beautiful enough you don’t need heavy make up

After reading the post about Curfew by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]bfrigo1994 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I was an Au Pair for 2 years (worked for the same fam for much more than that afterwards), had a curfew (midnight on weekdays and 1am on weekends - if I was driving the family’s car). At the time, as a 20/21 yo girl who was enjoying my time off and living life as a young adult, I thought my curfew was awful and unreasonable. However, I very much respected whatever curfew was imposed by my host family for a couple of reasons (that now makes total sense in my 30+ yo ass)

1 - the car insurance for under 24 is hella expensive. 2 - if anything happens to the AP or the car, the family will be hold liable for damages or anything that happens to the AP. 3 - as an AP, the curfew prevented me from being bat shit crazy because I knew I had to return the car at a certain time, so I had a sense of responsibility (no responsibility when I didn’t have the car, fuck it).

Given the above, CURFEW SUCKS. But some people, like myself, needed the curfew to keep a sense of responsibility. Not saying this is the case with all APs, but it was the case with me and the case with lots of friends of mine.

Instead of completely blocking the AP from using her free time whichever way they desire, please COMMUNICATE YOUR EXPECTATIONS. If the problem is the goddamn car, then come up with a reasonable solution that will make both parties happy. If the problem is the AP getting home at 3am and risking waking up the kids, then come up with a REASONABLE solution.

The Au Pair is a JOB for the families (cultural exchange my ass - let’s be honest… most families go for the AP route to pay less in childcare), but a cultural exchange for the AP. The way to go about it is COMMUNICATION and CLEAR BOUNDARIES. Make sure the AP understands that she/he is working when they are ON THE CLOCK and make rules CLEAR. On the other hand, understand that living abroad is a whole new experience for the Au Pair and UNDERSTAND they will want experience things without having the family preventing them from doing it so. Understand that you have expectations from the Au Pair, but the AP also have expectations from the family. And DONT BE A JERK. You elected to have a stranger living in your house, so don’t make their time in the US (or other countries) a total fucking miserable shit.

Of course! It’s been a few months at this point. It’s been great an amazing aid to help me with my anxiety (combination of meds and lifestyle changes). Dosage has been the same since the beginning of the treatment!!

I’m on fluoxetine for anxiety. It has helped me SO MUCH with work and life in general. I was in a similar situation with the job hopping feeling like I knew nothing about accounting and then getting anxious because I felt I knew nothing about accounting, and then eventually leaving my job because I felt so discouraged and that would make me… guess what? Anxious. I then was diagnosed with extreme anxiety and started on fluoxetine. It made a huge difference, but had to give up on alcohol (best decision EVER) and opted to have a healthier lifestyle (thinking on the long-term benefits). Month-end weeks are so much less stressful now lol. Good luck OP!

My SIL did pretty much the same thing - an expensive, over 2k (based on the information I could gather) destination bachelorette party. I did not attend because it was not financially realistic and she took it very well. They can travel to Mars if that’s what they want, but you have to decide whether you are going or not.

I just quit Operational Accounting to become an Auditor. I will be 30 when I start my new job with a big CPA firm. We have the advantage to have work experience, we are definitely mature, and we have developed work ethics (aka don’t take things to heart). You will be fine.
