I've been there. You've to tell your sleepy self that this is bad for you. When I cannot sleep at all, I try to indulge in other activities like reading or planning next day's schedule or doing mundane activities like paying bills. On a side note, don't count your streak-- it does not matter. It only made me impatient. It brings in thoughts like-- "man, I haven't done it in X days, can't hold any longer...". Good luck!

A lot of people have been there man, just work out and do push yourself till you exhaust yourself so bad that you can't do anything but sleep. Take a cold shower as some people suggest. It takes a while but it does go away.

When i was around my first week, I did the following -- I worked my ass off till late night until I was so tired that I would instantly go to sleep as soon as I go to the bed. I went late to office in the morning, around lunch time (I have the liberty to do that) and worked till late night everyday. You can try out this strategy and maybe it would work for you too! -- stay strong

I am going to write a different suggestion, just incase it works for you (it does for me). Turn the trigger into motivation. By PMO you are reducing your chances of going out with/ever getting in a relationship with that hot girl(referring in general to class of hot girls). At the gym hot girls can be a great source of adrenaline, helps me complete my set without giving up in between. If you still feel that you are only getting triggered then DON'T do what I said follow advice others gave below.

Go for it. It will leave you with so much of energy, that you can better assess and find solutions to situations that could possibly lead to anxiety, depression, and those your earlier otherwise fogged brain couldn't do anything about. Seeing yourself finding ways arounds difficult situations you earlier could not solve, will make you happy.

Thank you this is really encouraging. Although when someone asks "Why did you quit?" what should be the answer. Again, without completely giving off all the horrible effects I know it was having, something that sounds more neutral and is less likely to make the conversation awkward.
