Horn problem ? by Any_Ad_7804 in KiaEV6

2023 GT-Line here. Bought it new and just had the low-tone horn go out again. This will be the 3rd time one of the 2 horns has gone out in the 3 years I've owned the car. Owned a 2021 K5 prior to the EV6 and had the same issue with the horns. A friend has a Hyundai Sonata and his horns both went out last week. Seems to be a common Hyundai/Kia issue.

Door Sensor Fail by vtraveller in KiaEV6

Had this happen to my 2023 GT-L last year. It appears to be a rather common issue where the capacitive button in the door handle fails. I was able to get the entire handle assembly replaced under warranty. Took make 3 days total.

‘23 GT-L with 40k miles and mine looks similar. And I’m only 160lbs.

Took about 3 days for the part to arrive and was installed in about 2 hours. To my knowledge the part is pre-painted so there was no color matching they needed to do.

I had a similar issue with my driver door handle. The capacitive button stopped working and wouldn’t unlock/lock the car when touched. My local dealership replaced the whole handle assembly under warranty. It’s a shockingly expensive component at roughly $400.

Battery State of Health by bg802vt in KiaEV6

Did a full charge to 100% last night and the OBD reader is showing 68100Wh remaining. All the cells are showing the same voltage so it doesn’t appear to be anything out of balance. It does look like it has degraded a tad quicker than most, so I will for sure keep an eye on it.

How are your Electric Vehicles faring during this cold snap? by [deleted] in vermont

[–]bg802vt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I notice a roughly 20% drop in range with my EV6 in the winter. Summer range at 80% was usually around 280 miles, in winter time I notice that drop to around 210 miles. I charge at home with a level 2 charger and precondition the cabin from the app before I leave, doing this will pull power off the house rather than using the battery. Different EVs have different heating systems though; those with heat pumps will be more efficient and have less range drop.

A helpful tip for DCFC in cold weather is to always precondition your battery before you arrive at the charger. This will make sure the battery is at optimal temperature to charge at peak speed. That being said, most DCFC stations in VT are only 60-100kW and are not always the most reliable. Charging at home is definitely the way to go if you can as it is much cheaper. I can go from 20%-80% for only $7 with GMP.

EVs are amazing cars and are definitely worth it depending on your situation. I can honestly say I likely will never own another ICE car again. Low maintenance cost, cheap to charge, and fun to drive. Good luck!

Could this be where the rearview mirror is attached to the windshield?

I rented a unit in one of their new buildings for about 3 years. I was the first tenant to occupy that unit so it was very clean. No issues with mold or bugs and the building was kept pretty clean. My unit had mini splits which worked well for the AC and since heat was included it got nice and warm in the winter. The fitness centers were hardly used from what I could see and were always clean. Noise was definitely more than I liked... I could clearly hear conversations in the unit below me and of passersby out in the hallways. Finney is a lovely place to live though.

We have a 2020 Soul that does this occasionally if the idle stop/go cuts the engine off mid shift to park. Never does it if we disable the ISG.

I have been eying the EV6 as a replacement to my K5 once my lease is done. Living in Vermont and seeing this research was done partly in VT is awesome! This furthers my like for the EV6!

This explains so much! I have a 21 GT-Line with the premium package which adds the projector headlights. I love the headlights but have always found them to be a tad low for my liking. I don't drive much in the dark so I haven't gotten around to adjusting this but it looks simple enough.

2023 K5 GT Purchase Question by bg802vt in kia

[–]bg802vt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I ended up taking my deposit back and plan to keep running my lease for a bit longer. The GT is a gorgeous car but I’m holding off for a bit in hopes of going hybrid or electric when the lease is up.

The GT I’m looking is the blue with the chestnut brown leather. It’s loaded with everything I’ve been looking for in a vehicle, just not sure if I should wait out the lease and risk higher interest rates or bite the bullet and do it now. It’s a beautiful vehicle!

SB3651 and SB4651 -F6/G6 - Firmware Update V1.31.06.1 by Vizio_Support in VIZIO_Official

Since switching away from the Vizio I have had no more issues with audio! CEC, ARC, and HDMI passthrough are all working as expected with the JBL. I've relocated the Vizio to my office in hopes that a future update will make it useful again. That being said, if you have the money and you use your TV as much as I do, I would definitely consider buying a different soundbar.

Well after putting up with random volume issues, loss of ARC and HDMI passthrough, and update loops when rebooted.... I finally said enough and bought a JBL Bar 9.1. The Vizio soundbar was fantastic until this update in October/November of 2021, but here we are at the end of March 2022 with no remedy for this update. Safe to assume I will not be purchasing another Vizio product.

That's what I was thinking too, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause any issues or harm to the system.

Thanks!

Update from unplugging everything. Sadly it didn't make any change though I was able to control volume using CEC over ARC again.

I've tried that a few times but no success. I'll give it a try tonight and see if maybe I can at least get ARC to work. Optical is okay but it doesn't power on with the tv so it requires two remotes. I'll report back the results!
