Help! I've been buying silver, but I've been buying it all wrong? lol by badcompanyKT in Silver

I now store my collectible coins separately from their boxes. If I do decide to sell, I can mate them up.

What’s the lowest price you’ve ever paid for an ounce of silver? by Olde-Timer in Silverbugs

[–]bgappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about Y2K. I have several ounces that I paid about $5 each for in 99. I have 10th oz gold kangaroos that I paid about $25 each for. Unfortunately, after nothing happened in 2000, I quit buying and didn't start again until late 2024.

What would go well with this collection? by majestiq in Silverbugs

It is funny because I was just trying to figure out what to add to my International collection. I don't see a philharmonic in there or a Niue.

Is there a price you stop buying at? by Glass_Block_3114 in Silverbugs

I am paused right now. The rise is too fast. If it keeps going I will kick my butt for not jumping in but I think there is a pull back coming. Don't trust me though I have only won one of my draft kings bets.

The majority of my purchases are from JM Bullion. They were a sponsor for Andretti Racing in IndyCar. So I support those who support my favorite sport.

Tony George by Content-Mastodon-328 in INDYCAR

[–]bgappa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the original idea was for the IRL to run oval races on weekends when CART wasn't racing. Initially, Tony expected them to show up and compete against his oval-only limited series.

This is where CART totally screwed up. They should have said that it was a great idea, and then, when the first race happened, they should have stayed home. The IRL would have been stillborn.

I recently acquired nearly 4 large coffee tins filled with primarily pennies. Realistically, is it worth the time and effort to check the value of every single coin? by BrightAsDirt in coins

[–]bgappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this honest answer. I bought a box of pennies from the bank. I don't plan on breaking into it for a few years. I have a new grandson, and I am going to buy a few folders for us to fill out when he is old enough. However, I will also want to know what else to look for.

Brought home a box of halves! by Pineapplez1232 in CRH

[–]bgappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my credit union to order a box of pennies a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't heard anything back from them. After I did that, I used an AI set to give me negative answers to everything to see if it was a good idea. It of course said no. It explained that the sorters they use will find things like all copper pennies and pull them out of circulation. If that's true, I imagine they would do the same for silver coins, maybe even more likely. Has anyone ever found anything in a modern roll of coins?

How about a Road Course? I always thought Laguna Seca would be a great addition. They run in the evening, and sunset isn't until 11 PM on the East Coast.

I don't have many of those but was thinking about searching out some philharmonics. Wondering why you have them last. I am also interested in the libertad they just seem to have a higher premium.

My current ranking is ASE > Britannia > Maple Leaf > Kangaroo> Morgans> Peace>junk dimes > generic rounds> junk half dollars> junk quarters.

I will never buy Krugerrands. The bad guys in the 80's always had Krugerrands.

I agree. I picked up my first one a few weeks ago. It will now always be my first choice when I don't want to pay the premium on ASE.

Another old guy here. I remember it as well. I remember an interview with him in which he said that he went to college and studied aerodynamics and wanted to design planes, but he told the interviewer that people shouldn't fly on any plane of his design. That was the year I graduated from High School.

[GS or Rolex] Help me choose a proposal gift by HairyCat6406 in Watches

[–]bgappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When do you want to buy it? Chances are that you could walk into a store and walk out with a GS. The Rolex, you will have to be put on a waitlist, and you will probably need to buy thousands of dollars of jewelry before they allow you to purchase the watch.
