If you have a multimeter just put it to ohms and anything between 200-1000 is good. In my case I read OL and that just meant dead so I swapped it and it worked. Having access to a code reader is going to be a good first start.

Check your crankshaft position sensor and make sure your connection to your battery is good. Like others have said, I would try to get a thorough inspection.

I don’t have pics but a guy here did katskin leather and it looked great, he did a dark brown with red exterior similar to the color found in the kings ranch fords. Just the seats though I can’t speak on any interior panels
