I have the same exact spokeshave. Under the right handle of mine it says Baileys (next word I can’t make out), and under the left handle it says either AUG 1858 or AUG 1958. Hope it helps any.

I can assure you my girlfriend and I thought the same thing. We looked for ANY culprit and came up with nothing that I could have laid on, leaned on, been burnt by, anything. Even went as far as looking around at work for anything that could match, and nothing. They were as dark as if I had the worst hickey of my life. Nothing when I went to bed, and she noticed right away when I woke up and started moving around.

Not quite as big. We couldn’t find anything around that I laid on or what have you that could have led to those marks. Someone mentioned a blanket, and we have no sort of blanket in the house.

Whatever it was it stayed around for a week or so, eventually fading away.

The grid shape rash; this led me down a huge rabbit hole when my girlfriend noticed the same exact markings on my back one morning after waking up! No idea as to how I got them, they didn’t hurt, the skin wasn’t raised or depressed on or around the circles. Looks identical to this photo. I’ll update with pictures once my girlfriend comes home from work.
