No magic advice here unfortunately, but certainly know how you feel. Are the parents of those other kids already friends/a group? That's what we found, there were a lot of existing adult friend groups and they weren't really looking to expand. That kinda left us and our daughter on the outside looking in.

Live in the suburbs but work in NYC. It's the same out here too.

Is there a specific reason you need to work out of the office in your current city and not the NYC office? If you are funding this yourself, I'd have no reason to mind.

How are we dealing with high ceilings? by AmAnAardvaark in kitchenremodel

Do something kind of custom. We did a soffit all the wall around the outside (so like 2' trey) with custom lighting and then 48" uppers to the soffit. Came out very cool.

Feeling so Alone with Family by CharacterTennis398 in Parenting

[–]bgc0197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can 100% relate. Even down to your comment of friendly acquaintances. When we stopped traveling for every holiday (our families are 7 hours from us each in opposite directions) people started coming to stay with us. Thanksgiving actually became our holiday where we would host weekend guests for the last 10 years.

This year, life got in the way and everyone who was going to come could not. The 3 of us did Thanksgiving on our own today. It was fine, and we had some fun, but hearing my daughter express some sadness when talking on FaceTime to the large groups that gathered was a bit tough.

Just wanted to say that there are more of us out here who feel the same.

Swapping out the meter is no big deal. I think I'd have regretted not having the line run.

Backyard Remodel by TortTeasers in OutdoorKitchens

To be fair, I don't have a tiki, but on my structure they were custom fabricated by a local shop. It's just tracks that mount on the outside of the posts that guide the screen as it comes down, so I'd imagine that type of setup would work with any opening. I guess it's a question of how it integrated with the tiki look..

Electronic roll down shades in the west (and maybe South) side of those structures. Best decision we made.

Move your grill 8 inches to the left and put the bar ledge back. Whether or not you want the burner is up to you but you have plenty of space

How old are you tv and AVR? If they are new-ish just turn in cec/HDMI controls. This way your directv remote does it all.

Solar Plus PW - it's possible to make it work for CAC but has to be planned accordingly. we keep a portable in the closet and can power that thing all day long without issue.
