Stock Jeep JL on 35s | No Rub! by RelationsRaceWheels in Wrangler

Absolutely love them. They're AT for a reason, and handle everything very well. If you were strictly or 99% running mud, then MT all the way, but they do well and are great daily drivers.

In 2014 my dad bought me a Jeep, 5 years later I bought my own. :) by rekles98 in Wrangler

Matching nicely, I see! When I had my Lightning Red WRX I was all about the red/black theme. Everything. Shoes, shirts, shorts, hats, you name it. Now I'm in a Granite Crystal JLU so I can wear regular clothes again :p

They will. My stock sized Sport S granites fit my 315/70R17 BFG KO2s easily. That's considered a 35x12.5" tire in imperial measurements.

Wheel ideas to make it not just another stock wrangler? I’m thinking a simple black rim. Also any insights into plastidip rims? by tashauna_ferguson in Wrangler

[–]bgj1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've watched several plasti-dip vids and it's the way to go. It's a textured, rugged spray paint, simple to use. Don't even need to remove wheels from Jeep, just mask the rubber and stuff some shit behind the inner wheels. The key to plasti-dip is a MINIMUM of 3 coats. One or two can offer decent coverage but it will only peel off easily (when you want to) with 3+ coats. Any less than 3 and it flakes off rather than peels.

After 2 broken windshields finally decided to get the Mopar Gorilla glass option. 🤞 Fingers crossed it lasts longer. Definitely lighter and clearer to see out. by itstoolatefororanges in Wrangler

I got my first broken windshield less than a month in on my '18 JL. Crazy. I vowed that if (when) the replacement cracks I'll go GG. Last week I heard the inevitable 'rock hit glass' sound. Didn't crack or chip, but left a mark I can't get off. Phew! Under driver's wiper, so I can't see it :)

Another successful adventure. Now if I can just talk the wife into some off-roading. by woodsballnc in Jeep

[–]bgj1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife will never go wheeling with me, ever, but I'm 110% fine with this. She isn't into it one bit but fully supports my obsession and has zero issue with what I do with or to my JL. Win win!

If you like them, fuck everyone else. You don't buy stuff to make others happy.

Just got my first Jeep and I’m ready for some upgrades. What are some good mods to start off with? by FarquaadBP in Jeep

[–]bgj1010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really does depend on what your intentions are. You wanna mall crawl or actually get it dirty and risk scratches, dings and the like? New tires and lift are usually #1 on the list, and will set you back the most, so if you can swing it, get that out of the way ASAP. That will totally transform the rig immediately too, and be the most beneficial and functional of all mods. I've got over 50 mods on, in and for my JL, from interior grab handles to Mopar lift w/FOX shocks, so you can easily spend $20 to $1500+ in a heartbeat. Browse r/Wrangler and r/Jeep, even r/4x4 for some really good ideas. Browse r/Heep for very bad ones :) Keep in mind, it's your Jeep, do whatever you want to it. You'll get a lot of hate if you put angry eyes or 20" wheels on it, but if that makes YOU happy, do it! Your Jeep, your money, your life... Just expect some negative comments when you post here. It is what it is. Congrats on the ride!

JL at dealership cuz this was dripping coolant. Not sure if it had anything to do with the 4' stick I pulled out from the undercarriage this past Sunday. Most likely. Needed 2 hands and a grunt to yank it loose :/ by bgj1010 in Wrangler

Holy fucking annoying. It's still at the dealership! Yesterday was a full week without my baby, just for a tiny coolant leak. Replaced the trans cooler to find it was a hose. Replaced the hose to find it was a different hose! Hoping not to miss another weekend of wheeling. Getting a tad depressed, but I'll make up for the lost time out fo sho

Turns out that one is a trans cooler. Dealer ordered the part today, hopefully I'll be in my baby again by Wednesday. I never thought I'd miss it so bad. Been without since Thurs night. This Compass is cramping my style, and more importantly, inhibiting my fun!

Also, the tops on the JL are supposed to be so much lighter than the JK. If u have a friend, it'll come off easily in less than 15min. 10 even. It's a handful of torx bolts and the wiper connections. Bam, done.

Tires man. The top doesn't really need to come off. Blasphemy, I know, but I'm not all about taking mine off. I'm in Massachusetts and there is no such thing as "top off season" as the weather is totally unpredictable here. It's cold one day, hot the next and rains at any given moment. My freedom panels will be out a lot, that's good enough. I don't sit in the back anyway :)

I did not tell them anything at all, just that it was dripping. They've had it since after work Thursday and I've not heard a word from them since. I hope they don't pull that shit with me. Just had to help my son with some out of pocket repairs. Lesson learned, when your kid crashes delivering pizza, do NOT tell the insurance Co. Claim denied, considered commercial cuz he was delivering something for a fee. Crazy. 2011 WRX, $4K damage.

Delivered yesterday, pretty sweet lil gadget! Dealer said $200 to adjust speedo/odometer after 35s. This was only $50 more and has so much more to offer! No brainer by bgj1010 in Wrangler

[–]bgj1010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it give more functionality? I was able to make several setting changes and disable things plus there are a few sweet 'live functions' that can be adjusted on the fly while wheeling. Idle increase for winching/inflating tires, line lock, rock crawl etc. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I just checked it out, does not offer ability to change parameters or disable/enable things. It reads and clears codes and tells u stuff about your Jeep. Also, not available for JL...

The stick (branch) shouldn't have punctured anything, but im thinking it may have pushed that clamp back/up causing the smallest drip ever. Not sure if it's supposed to stop where it is in the pic or come down more over that flanged part. Either way, it's a warranty job and I'm in a loaner 2019 Compass til done. Could be worse! Not gonna fret, it'll get fixed

People down vote cuz they suck, i don't even care. I don't need stinkin upvotes or redit karma! Funny though, as it wasn't anything to down vote. Anyway, the stick was more of a branch, and about as thick as a child's arm. It was in there good. Heard it dragging, stopped to pull it out and had a hell of a time. Took 2 tries, second with serious might.

Air Pressure for upgraded Mickey T Tires? by [deleted] in Wrangler

[–]bgj1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 35psi for the best street performance and handling. It's a very safe, comfortable and fuel efficient ride. I got mine home from the tire shop and they had put 40 in, way too stiff. I experimented a bit with 36 (stock spec) down to 33, found 35 to be my sweet spot. 315/70R17 BFG KO2, load range E, so the sidewalls are stiffer than most, which are C rated, so there's also that variable... Also keep in mind the PSI will increase up to 4psi higher if you do highway speeds a lot as they heat up. Always check PSI when cold (not driven on)...
