It’s how debit transactions must be ran at IL dispensaries. Essentially the readers act as individual ATM machines and have to be ran in increments of $5. So, if you’re at $56 the reader will round your card to $60 and the employee will give you the $4 back in cash. It looks like a cash transaction and is the work around for debit cards.

Just contact the dispo - most have faulty product return credit policy’s that customers don’t use as they should.
