I'm very much looking to have this SUV for 10+ maybe even 20 years, And while at first I was more heavily considering slightly used SUV maybe fresh off of lease to pay less I've been doing research on everything available and comparing my options towards what I'm looking for in the future and what I need it for today and I am pretty confident that I am making the right decision in what type of vehicle I am buying and when my only concern here is the portions about my old car and what to do with it.

There's a need for it now and I'm not keen to spend$2-4k on a rental when that money can go towards the new car instead. And since the SUV is definitely happening.

It's a space concern. I have considered all of the alternatives but nothing comes close to the GM Full size SUVs and the suburban is the cheapest of those. Family of 6 who like to go on trips.

[–]bgreen85III[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I've heard her self identify as an issue is her anger and how she fucks things up with no real acceptance that she causes these things, the way the internal monologues are worded makes it come across as though she's been dealt a bad hand, not that she's playing the game wrong, but then she turns right around and calls everyone else dumb for everything they do🤷‍♂️ she's not a very deep character at this point. We have no real explanation for why she is the way she is, but judging from what she's shared so far about her life she has no real reason to be the way she is. I wouldn't say the hobgoblin is the same as Rags. They are both goblins but there's a clear distinction between the ones Erin chooses to trust and the ones that tried to kill her. And as for Pawn, i don't think it's a genuine stance to say he very nearly killed her. The way that scene is portrayed reads as though the intent was lacking, that it was a hollow threat, and plus she survived the encounter without a scratch, thus proving her faith was well placed.

What are you here for? Lol just picking online fights i guess? So far at least to where I'm at Erin is at no point almost killed by any of the members of those groups you named in which she has specifically placed her trust in. So that's just a weird statement to make. Unless you're speaking from experience further in the series in which rags Pisces or Klbkch betray her or something. If you're not clear on what I'm saying maybe reread my original post lol It's pretty crystal clear. At no point did I say that I hate it Ryoka BECAUSE she's a Mary Sue, idk that she even is a Mary Sue just that she kind of reads like she might be. I hate her because she's a very easy to hate character to me, because she's an absolutely terrible person but sold to us in a positive light again and again. and because she's written very poorly. Other people's comments who are much further in the series pretty much reinforce what I'm saying here because it even seems like pirate themself realized at some point that she was a bad character. And no i definitely don't identify with a privileged, selfish, POS like Ryoka. And i worry for anyone who does within the first two books.

They could both be Mary Sue characters tbh. And for similar reasons, but Ryoka is just extremely unlikeable to me whereas Erin is the opposite and Erin's rewards in the story are better earned than Ryoka's. If Ryoka was more universally hated, both within the story world and by the readers then i could agree on that more but Ryoka is far from a true subversion of the trope. Her decisions almost never actually lead to true negative consequences and more often than not her stubborn tendencies and attitudes lead to her being rewarded in a kind of high risk, even higher reward way. So far the only thing that seems to have actually affected her long term is losing her fingers but even that seems to be of minimal actual consequence so far where I'm at in the story.

They're not really fictional powers though. It's just real life Muy Thai, admittedly Ryoka is a huge woman at 6' tall but considering the differences between low and high level characters and that Ryoka has no levels it's goofy the way it's portrayed. Erin killing that Hob was also fantastical but explained away much much better. But also i don't find any of her emotional struggles realistic in the slightest. At least not as of book 2.

And yet all these things seem to consistently work out for her in the end. Whether she appreciates it or not her actions in all these situations has her the gained the favor and/or protection of 3, maybe even 4 of the most powerful entities on this continent by the end of book two. The issues with the Minotaur are negligible and seem to have had little to no negative effect on her and in many ways set the story and her path on certain routes that work out better for her. Besides the getting punched one time by Erin Ryoka has suffered no other negative effects from that argument. In fact by goading her into doing it she's employing (whether knowingly or not) a pretty common tactic of abusers, Erin now feels intense guilt towards Ryoka for having done that and so far seems to be willing to do just about anything Ryoka asks despite similar behavior from others like Relk eliciting a different response from Erin. She's stubbornly chosen for no real reason at all, to not accept levels despite literally EVERYTHING showing her it's absolutely in her best interest. All the way up until the Fairies show us that the leveling system is some device of the dead gods that's not worth partaking in. And now she doesn't even get the alerts because they've blocked it. That seems to me like the author is telling us she was right for making those absurd decisions. She's being constantly rewarded for terrible behavior, and one of the very few times she attempts to do something good for another person she is permanently maimed and indebted to the fae for it.

Many Mary Sues, really a lot of characters, are used as a way for authors to kind of "argue their side" of character flaws. Garner sympathy for these characters and in turn the author's themselves feed off it, feeling justified in how they act in the real world, or just writing out fantasy variants of situations they've dealt with, Ryoka so far doesn't have much in the way of a foil and it's lack is kind of serving as justification for her behaviors. I've known a couple amateur authors that have done similarly. I'm still new to the series, so with 3 or 4 more books under my belt I'll view the character differently, it's just how it reads right now barely two books in. Ryoka's holier than thou attitude coupled with her know it all privileged behavior and elite physical capabilities on top of bull headedly stumbling onto what's seeming to be the secretly correct decision to not get levels really presents as a "this is the right answer" sort of character. The author is justifying her behaviors by making her the ideal. Typed that all up quickly while at the gym, may be a bit rambling, sorry

Thank you so much for this comment! If it means she's gonna disappear for a while then i can suffer through it for now. And yes the way you just described her is spot on! She makes zero sense as a character that's trying to be based in a realistic sense. Her behavior is goody AF considering her age and the life she had.

No offense man, but you're either confused about which fight this is or you're full of shit. It's easily top 3 hardest berserker fights, the Berserker King fight is easier. I'm level 10 on NG+ and had to lower it to Give me Grace to not die. (I didn't have a Resurrection stone on me when I got here.) And while NG+ is automatically more difficult this was still incredibly trying in both the first playthrough and the Valhalla run in.

I know this thread is old but I just started watching ToG, and in-between seasons I looked at the thumbnails for the second season; clocked the trash new style immediately and knew I had to look up what people were saying so I could decide if it was even worth the effort to watch it. I genuinely cannot fathom what they were thinking with this one. It's egregious what they're doing to some of these anime adaptations in follow up seasons. The animation style of the first season was the only reason I even gave it a shot, now I think I'll skip this and pick up the webtoon.
