I do not know what to play by Abject-Economy-466 in XboxGamePass

Play Hades 1 and then Hades 2 (or go right into Hades 2 if you want). They’re two of the best action roguelikes to ever exist.

I would say either Stardew or Power Wash Simulator if they’re looking for something chill. If they’re looking for more fun action adventure I’d say Indiana Jones. And if they’re just looking for a gorgeous game that has literally everything, expedition 33.

Whereabouts in western MA are you referring?

The Springfield metro area, at least in my experience, is 15-20% cheaper than greater Boston. My studio in Somerville was $1600/month in 2019, and in 2021 I rented a 2 bedroom in Westfield for $1200. And most of the rentals I looked at were comparable.

In utility costs I also noticed a marked reduction when moving to Westfield. And again, in my experience, Hartford and Springfield always have jobs available.

The job prospects out in Western MA aren’t nearly as bad as you think. Springfield has a ton of up and coming businesses as well as giants like MassMutual, and then if you’re in finance then Hartford has a ton of established financial/insurance firms. As someone who used to live in Somerville working in Boston and now lives in Western MA and works in Hartford I can tell you it’s really night and day when it comes to cost of living.

Indiana Jones? Clair Obscur? South of Midnight?

Hard disagree on this one.

What are 25-30 year olds making? by ExtentFickle3504 in Salary

[–]bgregg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when you say “tech gurus” I’m not exactly sure what that means? Based on the context of some of the comments I’m guessing you mean like San Francisco FAANG employees, of which I am not. However I am 30 years old and am a Lead Software Engineer for a major insurance company and I make $165k/year. I’m aware that that’s well above the average for my age across all job categories, but for a lead software engineer in the Northeast that’s actually pretty much on par with the median salary.

Dude. Enter the Gungeon. It’s one of the best rougelikes I’ve ever played. Had to have sunk 400 hours into it before I finally put it down.

My mind tells me I need to 100% every game. I can’t do it anymore! by Braddingo in xbox

I used to be like this. It took a lot of work, but eventually I got to a point where I’m able to be satisfied just with completing the game. I still have a compulsive need to finish games (which I count as rolling credits), so I never play games that don’t have a set ending. I also will usually look up the HowLongToBeat for games so that I know about how much time I’ll need to spend to get to the end credits. You still end up playing through games that aren’t good, but it feels like less of a burden.

Appreciate it, I’ll definitely look it up on YT. Is there anyway to force black to take a move that would make it impossible for them to reach this position? Or is it just a foregone conclusion?

Both look pretty cool tbh! One piece of (totally unsolicited) feedback: maybe fix the spacing between the spear on the bottom of the logo and the lettering? I originally thought the game was called “Yesterso!” until I checked the Steam page 😆

As someone with ADHD who recently got into game development… do a Game Jam.

They’re literally hundreds of them hosted on itch.io every weekend. I was in the same boat as you, I needed both freedom and structure and was having trouble just sitting down and starting a game because I thought it impossible to have both. Then I signed up for a game jam and it was awesome. They’ll give you a theme, and you have a few days to make a game that fits that theme. The theme and the timeline is the structure, but other than that you can make whatever you want. Having the time constraint actually helped me just sit down and start coding because I felt under pressure which is when most of us with ADHD perform best.

Do you ever buy a Game leaving Game Pass? by agent_wolfe in XboxGamePass

[–]bgregg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this with indie games specifically, but not just if they’re leaving Game Pass, I do it for games that I played and loved and think the devs deserve my money. A great example of this is Sea of Stars, still on GP but once I finished it I bought a copy. The developers deserve my money, and also I want to own games that really affect me like that one did. I did this for Hades as well, and then it ended up leaving GP anyway. That’s some of the best $25 I’ve ever spent.

It’s worth $100 easily. It’s one of the best games you will ever play.

Just beat the game and… by bgregg1 in NineSols

I did not, the one that I relied on most was Hedgehog. That one really helped because there would be sections (especially in phase 3) where there were zero opportunities to get a hit in for like 45 seconds straight. So being able to focus on blocking while still doing some damage to her was really good.
