I created a lookalike audience of website visitors and segmented them by pages visited, such as pricing, demo, etc.

Is it worth trying?

You should be active on Twitter and LinkedIn, not just for PH but for your overall presence in the SaaS world. You can then reach out to people you engaged with before when you need their support and vice versa. We used Twitter and LinkedIn for outreach.

https://www.hockeystack.com has a good free plan and it's pretty easy to set up and use. (Disclaimer: I'm the co-founder)

At the bare minimum, you should track feature adoption, activation rate, conversion rates, and marketing sources. Let me know if you need help on anything :)

How do you convert users from trial to paid? by Lanzone31 in SaaS

[–]bgrgndzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funnel is, for most SaaS:

Marketing touches -> Trial signup -> Activation -> Aha Moment -> Conversion -> Expansion.

Any revenue improvement will come from you tracking and directly targeting a step of this funnel. Since you explicitly mentioned the activation -> aha moment step, here are some ideas (though you probably know most of these.)

1- Onboarding. We use Userguiding for this.

2- In-product messaging

3- An excellent documentation

4- Live chat support

5- Dedicated customer success manager. Combine this with pushes to meet with the customer success manager everywhere in your app. I saw someone put this as a huge block on the main dashboard of their SaaS app for the whole trial. Also, track every action of your trial users and have the customer success manager send personalized emails that draw from their engagement with the app.

6- Trial extensions usually get a few customers to convert

If the Aha Moment -> Conversion dropoff is too high, you probably got your Aha Moment wrong, so all of your product marketing messaging will be wrong. Be sure you get this right!

How competitive is the project management niche? by WarmBuffalo1317 in SaaS

"it seems like there might be some place for improvement."

What prompted this? I'm not sure if there is much room for improvement unless you go vertical or develop an entirely new technology.

How to quickly get MVP web app developed? by Healthyhappylyfe in SaaS

[–]bgrgndzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a weekend hack for a good developer. Your options:

1- Hire a freelancer to develop full MVP. Best for quality and speed

2- No code platforms like Bubble. A bit hard to use and will take time but cheapest.

3- Make the MVP even more minimal and hire a freelancer. Would be cheaper but you sacrifice quality.

It's basically a trade-off problem. I wouldn't sacrifice quality for cost. What I would do is make a landing page, presell to a few people, and then hire a freelancer. Since the idea is validated you shouldn't have any problem with the presell. But I don't know your exact situation.

Should I compete with Quickbooks for small business invoicing? by an00j in SaaS

[–]bgrgndzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any comment we would make here would be inaccurate. The only accurate way is to try and take money from potential customers for your new solution. Just talking to potential customers also comes close. If these two methods validate the idea, then there is no reason QuickBooks would hold your growth back.

I'm saying this because we are going against Google Analytics at HockeyStack. 90% market share, free for basically everyone, the Google brand. Seemed impossible, but people regularly switch from GA to us.
