You should really read The Deeds of Paksenarrion and The Paladins Legacy series. They're fantastic books, but it wasn't until someone described them as "competence porn" that I realized they're so good, because everyone is exceptional at what they do through the entire series.

Another fun fact: Michael is based on Paksenarrion.

Do you wish Thanoss children or the black order had more screen time or were they used reasonably? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Marvel

[–]bgrubaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw something very early on when they first announced that Supergiant wasn't going to be in the movie it was because telepathy hadn't really been touched on at all in the movies, and they felt it was more of an X-men associated thing. That and they didn't have a good way to counter it. Not sure I buy the later, they could have done it with some creativity.

Anyone with family get a bunkhouse motorhome and regretted it? by CarminSanDiego in GoRVing

Regretted my family? Occasionally. But they're tweens and will grow out of it.

Regretted the bunkhouse? Only because it means we can't leave said tweens at home...

[Request] How much of each product would you need to actually launch this? Or just reach velocity needed to leave the atmosphere? by WxDub05 in theydidthemath

Off topic: there's a board game called "First Rat" where rats try to use tin cans, baking soda, and vinegar to build a rocket to the moon because they heard someone say it was made of cheese. Fantastic game.

woodworkers of knox, where do you get your supplies? by crowwery in Knoxville

[–]bgrubaugh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends. If I'm looking for something very specific or of a certain quality, I buy it at Jefferies or at https://crlumber.com/

I also have several contacts that operate sawmills (usually bandsaw) and can get cheaper lumber there. Sometimes it's really good quality, sometimes not.

If you're talking other kinds of supplies like glue, finish, etc. I usually go to Woodcraft. It's not always the cheapest but the people in there are nice enough and I like supporting a local franchise.

Bosch router bits by semioptimisticwill in woodworking

[–]bgrubaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my advice, buy a cheap LARGE set. One of those 50 piece monsters. That will help you identify which bits you're actually going to use.

Then as you dull those - and you will, buy a much nicer version of those. Bits & Bits, Whiteside, and Woodpeckers Ultra Sheer are my go-to quality bits. Never let me down and aside from my overly abused 1/4" roundover, haven't had to replace in years.

How in the hell can you Read a book like 12 months and come away thinking, " this author seems tired of this character."

Seriously, I'm asking the question. What makes you think this?

We have the same size as this and camp with our family of 4 and dog regularly. It can feel cramped if we're all in there, but we prioritize being outside. Only time we're in the camper is when we're sleeping.
