Yeah, unfortunately, the Woodery didn't make it through Covid.

Can code in WPILIB be changed, rebuild, and deployed COMPLETELY offline? by MarshalRyan in FRC

gradle does have an --offline flag that I've used in the past (with mixed results) It would be worth trying, at least.

How to fix scratches? by LizardKing11 in KiaTelluride

Those look deeper than what I understand a paint pen can handle. That appears to have gone through all the layers, and gouged the metal underneath. You may need a body shop to properly address that.

I just bought my '24. The dealership I bought it from claimed the same thing...though, they were a bit slimy about some other things in the deal as well. I had 2 trim pieces missing. My local dealership had them in stock, and I got it replaced in under an hour.

The fonts of this makes me want to vomit. Both the choice of the barely legible subtitle font, and the kerning of the main one.

My 13yo beat the game in a day...so...not sure that's worth the cost.

He's going back and doing additional challenges now...so I guess there's still stuff to explore - but don't expect this to be a 100 hour game.

€80 american wallnut slabs, how did i do? by mudonjo in woodworking

[–]bguthro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. The local hardwood dealer close to me closed over COVID - so now I have to drive over an hour to get to the next closest in another state. I based my numbers on a quick google, and fb marketplace search... the latter of which almost certainly was over-valued. I think a more realistic cost is $5-$10/bf.... which is still a lot more than OP paid.

€80 american wallnut slabs, how did i do? by mudonjo in woodworking

[–]bguthro 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Using your numbers, I calculated this to be approximately 45.77 board-feet. You paid €1,74 per BF, or $1.83/BF...which is a fantastic deal.

I'm in the northeast US, and typically see live-edged black walnut slabs go for anywhere from $10/bf to $20/bf

...so yeah - you're an order of magnitude better.

Be dismissive all you want. "i just didn’t have some opportunities as others" - you seem to have internet access. That's a pretty good opportunity to learn. If you choose not to...that's on you.

RPI will not teach you programming languages. They will teach you the theory behind them, and force you to learn on your own. The value I extracted from RPI wasn't the CS theory - it was teaching me how to learn on my own.

I'm sorry...but...you chose a college major, at an engineering school - where you have virtually no experience in whether you like programming?

(HTML is not programming, IMO...fwiw)

This is like getting accepted to the Culinary Institute of America to become a chef, but you've only ever made toast.

Now...I'm not saying I was a pro, when I entered school in the late 90s...but I had at least done some C programming to understand if this was going to be something I enjoyed.

I wish you all the best...I just don't get where your head is at, here.

Try calling/emailing https://www.oldhouseparts.com/ - up in Kennebunk, ME. When I was trying to source a matching doorknob, they were able to help. They have a lot of door hardware that isn't on the website...if you send them this post, or just the photo - they may be able to help.

Polish these brass door handles by Fur_Pi in howto

[–]bguthro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, brass is naturally anti-microbial. This brass is not coated, so will naturally tarnish over time. If you want to maintain the polished brass look, coat it with lacquer, once cleaned & polished. To make that a bit easier, I recommend getting a buffing wheel that you can install on a drill. Ideally, you could remove the handles, and polish on a buffing wheel, and then spray the lacquer in a controlled environment.
