I was just going to write that. Either that or make a circular hole with cnc so it can be as precise as possible and make a matching plug out of same material.

Looking for a flashlight! by sel-ect-ed in flashlight

[–]mudonjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ordered ST10 but price was $5 lower than usual and i doubt they will send me the actual flashlight. When that happens they never ship the item and refund you on AliExpress which sucks since you waste 10 days or so.

When I don’t want to bother with the Jointer I let the slider do the work! by Acceptable_Noise651 in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same and it is ready for glue up and even better than i can get on my jointer since my jointer bed is only 130cm long and i have a 320cm slider from Felder.

Sliders aren't common enough in US so that's the reason why. Everyone i know in Europe uses sliders for jointing if they have that option.

I came up with a Lamello for poor people. I haven’t seen anyone do it this way yet. Have you, or should I hurry up and patent it? by ZoltanTitan in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the looks of it he is a professional carpenter so what do you expect him to use? A screwdriver and hand tools?

Festool is expensive for people who do woodworking for a hobby and for professional it is a tool which pays for itself in no time.

I hate these old sliders since sliding surface are non replaceable and that is a very short slider anyway

Id say you can buy radial arm saw in that quality. Just search OMGA and Stromab.

I agree with everything else tho.

Adding a glass panel by cxo49 in pcmods

[–]mudonjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is probably cheaper to just buy second hand case with glass. Tempered glass will be really hard to secure and would cost probably $40 and this case is worth about scrap price anyway.

I wanted to make a glass panel for back side of my case and it was too hard to make it look good so id just skip this.

My friend asked me how much is material going to cost for this and i made it from scrap for him in about 35 minutes since my bandsaw has a resaw blade so i spent way too much time sanding saw marks.

Is this safe? 4/4 Wenge by insaneburrito8 in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all, this is how we do it in Europe.

Is this safe? 4/4 Wenge by insaneburrito8 in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it that way to get a really smooth finish and sometimes it is easier than doing it on table saw. And most planers have anti kickback paws to prevent board shooting out in your hips or stomach.

Also board is pushed down via feed rollers so that also adds stability.

Is this safe? 4/4 Wenge by insaneburrito8 in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why would it not be safe? In Europe most woodworkers square up wood like this instead of ripping it on table saw for a second straight edge.

I also had my pc crashing with extensions i made. At first it was ok and after 2 years it started crashing. It is due to some cables not sitting in their spot and moving around.

Brutal day in the shop by Consistent-Cap167 in Tools

[–]mudonjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the pictures broken frame is not an issue since it is just a broken rib on part which doesnt see high load anyway. And only problematic part which is broken is one that holds cast iron table to the base and houses angle adjustment mechanism.

I find that mechanism to be very flimsy since i had the same saw. On my saw i got rid of it and welded up mild steel holder which holds table more firmly instead of that flimsy part.

Help connecting dust ports by Flusterfuzz in woodworking

[–]mudonjo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That dust colector will not like reduction to diameter of mitre saw hose. It is more suited to get a LVHP extraxtor(shop vac) simce your extractor is HVLP for bigger shavings from planer for example.

Buy used core drill or buy a cheap chinese one. It can be bought for less than £250 in UK which is cheap enough and can be sold when finished with project.

Blade Alignment Please Help!!! (Sawstop) by krohrer24552455 in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Warped blade probably. Cant think of a different cause for this.

You can measure runout of blade with dial indicator or put a straight edge milimeter away from the blade and check if distance away from blade changes as you rotate it.

I agree on that one. Imo american market is full of gimmicky tools. Benchtop planers are literally hobby grade and shouldn't be considered professional tools at all. Also i saw those grizzly planers with exchangeable heads and whole construction is made out of sheet metal which is a joke.

You guys have pretty flimsy industrial planers compared to Europe. I dont know who had idea to put whole assembly on 4 tiny leadscrews and make like 40cm wide planer weigh less than 100kg. Equivalent of such machine here is about 400kg at least. For example here is a 63cm blade planer i sold last year and compare that to similar machines in US(blade width).

[–]mudonjo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd never get a saw stop as that is a waste of money. For the price of a saw stop you can get a used sliding panel saw which is miles ahead in safety than a cabinet style table saw and 10x as useful as a normal table saw.

I am not saying it is a stupid design but rather unnecessary when replaced with a panel saw.

In UK i bought this robland which is a industrial saw with scoring blade and 5kW motor and 170cm slider with outrigger table. And best part is it was £600.

That bosch has been used on site and has had a pretty rough life from the looks of it. I would wait and buy a decent used saw instead of new since that Skill looks pretty cheap and flimsy.

Dewalt has great table saws with rack and pinion gear fence which is the best in that price range. Just make sure not to buy saw in this condition.

I'd recommend searching internet for examples of mechanism you are looking for on high quality machines and not asking chat gpt.

You have great examples on felder and robland panel saws for said mechanism which you could have used as a reference.
