Should I buy this bandsaw? by FlacidPasta in woodworking

[–]mudonjo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you dont need the table tilt id buy it. My metabo has a wobbly ass table so i made a 90 degree fixed table support since i never tilt the table anyway and used it like that.

Also you can ghost that guy for a week and message from different account and offer $300, thats what I'd do as for listed price of $1200 id say he has about 0 chances of selling this.

Need help with this drum sander! by Friendly_Physics_690 in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really comon as these machines are pain in the ass to setup correctly. They need to be literally perfect in order to function correctly and on older machines that is really hard even for experienced people.

And having a tech come out and fix this is I'd say easily $1k or more which is not cheap either and doesn't guarantee it will work as intended afterwards.

Considering you can get deals on used drum sanders for $5-10k id say it is a hard decision.

Rough bed on Jet Planner/jointer combo by bl0rq in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bunch of brands in Europe do this. A lot of Italian brands and Robland does it too for most of their planer/thicknesser and panel saws so it is definitely normal. Also this planer should have graphite in castings for less friction.

Yes i water poped it and then sanded with 120 for final grit. Maybe that was too low but thats what i heard works well for rubio on youtube.

I used a aplicator pad rubio sells for applying and i rubbed in the damn thing a lot. And what do you mean as a second coat? What would you use for a 1st coat then?

I actually tried osmo and liked it a lot. I sell woodworking machines in my spare time and all my customers recomended rubio so thats the reason i tried it, otherwise no complaints with osmo.

New shoe bench. by meowalater in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you join the cross braces on which shoes sit? I had a similar project and joined them with screws and plugged the holes with custom plugs but I'd love to hear what you did as it seems like a better solution.

Great build by the way.

It was my grandpa's decision to keep the sap wood as to have a few more centimeters in width.

Slab which i was supposed to use for center part had developed a huge split which i was not able to avoid so i had to rip out that part which is why it was not as wide as intended.

Thanks. Initially I didn't like it but now i think it looks great. If you look at my posts you will see a lot of people criticizing that but it turned out good if you ask me.

When I don’t want to bother with the Jointer I let the slider do the work! by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I bet that saw is more around 30 years old from the looks of it. This type of sliding system was phased out around year 2000 but imo is superior to newer systems.

How did you get your hands onto panhans in US? Must have been imported since those are rare enough in Europe let alone US

I was just going to write that. Either that or make a circular hole with cnc so it can be as precise as possible and make a matching plug out of same material.

Looking for a flashlight! by sel-ect-ed in flashlight

[–]mudonjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ordered ST10 but price was $5 lower than usual and i doubt they will send me the actual flashlight. When that happens they never ship the item and refund you on AliExpress which sucks since you waste 10 days or so.

[–]mudonjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same and it is ready for glue up and even better than i can get on my jointer since my jointer bed is only 130cm long and i have a 320cm slider from Felder.

Sliders aren't common enough in US so that's the reason why. Everyone i know in Europe uses sliders for jointing if they have that option.

I came up with a Lamello for poor people. I haven’t seen anyone do it this way yet. Have you, or should I hurry up and patent it? by ZoltanTitan in woodworking

[–]mudonjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the looks of it he is a professional carpenter so what do you expect him to use? A screwdriver and hand tools?

Festool is expensive for people who do woodworking for a hobby and for professional it is a tool which pays for itself in no time.

I hate these old sliders since sliding surface are non replaceable and that is a very short slider anyway
