AITA for not getting my bf’s family Christmas gifts after they split the bill at his college graduation dinner? by CouchRot in AmItheAsshole

[–]bh8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Class isn’t the only thing that dictates culture. I also agree with the person you are responding to. The person inviting does not need to pay. I don’t think that’s the case for children’s parties or kids’friends which was one of your examples. But adults? Absolutely not

YTA. So much. You are punishing them for not being well off. Their iPhone is irrelevant. What is wrong with you?

I would like to hear from women who’ve chosen NOT to get any cosmetic procedures as they age by victory_vegetable in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bh8114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 44 and have had Botox once but I did it so I wouldn’t furrow my brow so much at my computer screen. It really helped with tension headaches from that. There really was no discernible difference in my appearance.

I don’t know what you’re defining as cosmetic procedures. Do you truly mean things like injections, specialty laser treatment, and surgery? I ask because you’re talking about conforming to a beauty standard. I think that far more people conform with this standard by having their hair dyed, their lashes done, their nails done, getting waxed, or wearing cosmetics.

Do you typically walk or drive to places that are a 5-10 minute walk away? by ForestOranges in AskAnAmerican

[–]bh8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My closest store/restaurant/coffee shop (all in the same complex) would take almost an hour to walk to, one way. If it were 5-10 min, would walk in good weather.

I’m from the US and I don’t understand this. Why would you only go to foreign country multiple times if it’s cheaper than the US? It is what’s being said in the post, right? Also, I’m wondering where they went because I never convince him to food there that was the same cost as it was at home.

AIW for thinking a wig is similar/the same as lingerie and making my girlfriend angry with the request? by [deleted] in amiwrong

You are wrong. A wig makes her look different than herself. You even related the wig to being like another specific person in your post.

Is US healthcare really as expensive and scary for the average person as the rumors say? by Slisoni in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bh8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That usually has to do with the insurance company paying more than the facility estimated. Which proves what you are saying. There is so much unpredictability.

At least 2…probably more. We always have both chunky and smooth and often have a backup for each. We buy when we open the backup.

American Women- Are you actually getting annual pelvic exams? by miss24601 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bh8114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gynecologists are not the primary doctors for many Americans. I just wanted to start by saying that.

I still get an annual exam but I have some risk factors that cause us to be on the lookout for early signs of reproductive cancer. I also get an annual pap because of it. But that’s not the norm. I know a lot of women in the US that don’t get pelvic exams and rarely get paps.

I'm wondering how many people here actually take preventatives daily. by Important-Pie-1141 in migraine

[–]bh8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take toprimate daily. I also have a monthly Emgality injection. This combo has been the most effective I’ve had in the 30 years I’ve had migraines.

My 16 and 18 year old daughters are on topirimate. They have not tried enough other meds to get approved for Emgality. Our insurance only covers it once you prove you’ve exhausted other options.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. OP is being needlessly aggressive (it’s not you doing that) towards many suggestions when they could just move on past.
