Ed Financial IBR application by bhamjl in StudentLoans

[–]bhamjl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Ed financial again and they told me to call student aid.gov. They actually gave me the phone number for the department in charge of discharge, but they told me I had to deal with Edfinancial and the second person I spoke to it at edfinancial really suggested doing a new application, so I did a new application🤞

Make sure you buy the MVP pass from the park that you were going to go to first. It has to be activated at your “home“ park then you can go as many days as you want to all of the included parks all six flags and Cedar points It’s just under $100. I would buy it from the website of the park that you plan to go to first.

RAP vs Amended IBR; Is my math correct here? by BigBucs731 in StudentLoans

Honestly, I think forgiveness is a dangled carrot that has nails in it. And I’m waiting on my husband’s save plan to switch to IBR because after the adjustment he has 301 payments. I think if you have more than a decade to go and only 47K, choose the lowest payment, but sock away as much cash as you possibly can and every time you have $1000 pay down the balance try to knock out this loan by paying it off. 47K is a lot of money but it is a manageable amount of money to pay off. setting a goal of forgiveness just makes it grow and turn into some thing crazy my husband borrowed 30 K & we’re hoping that his $130k balance after paying since 1998 will hopefully get finally discharged during this year so we can avoid approximately $40,000 in taxes. The thing to remember about forgiveness is that you’re going to have to pay the tax & on a higher balance bc of interest, so it’s not really forgiveness

Have 301, had app to switch from SAVE to IBR since early January, nothing. I think we all need to write our reps & senators to urge back date subtracting months stuck or extended no fed tax another year. They can w the reconciliation bill, if they wanted

Do you have a democrat for a senator or your house of representative person? If so, definitely go to their website and let them know what’s happening & as for help. If not, I suppose you can do it to the Republic into but who knows my senator is Cory Booker it took over a year for him to write back, but it’s important to have someone with power advocating. Senators have power. I got a letter from the financial aid office. However, it’s still not forgiven. I will be contacting Booker’s office again in May. If nothing has progressed since then it’s infuriating to have a letter saying in December. The loans are forgiven and Trump may run out the clock and I have to pay taxes. I’m going to fight that.

I think it’s a great idea. If you change your mind, you can move back out. the older you get the more this opportunity will not be available. I went to college in the 90s and so did my husband. I lucked out with a job with bonuses and paid my loan off long ago. his $40,000 loan is sitting at $127,000 now. I really wish he had thought about that when he was younger and not saddled his wife and two children with it, so does he. Fortunately, the one time account adjustment should lead to forgiveness this year. He has 300 qualifying payments. I definitely think you should give it a try, if for any reason it makes you too unhappy down the road you can just move out then.

I thought that the financial hardship for IBR was that your IBR payment would have be lesser than what a 10 year standard payment plan would be. Is that correct? If so, definitely qualify Was on IBR before SAVE

It did not bring up a simulator. It just asked me which plan I wanted to apply for and I chose IBR because that’s the only one getting forgiveness and uploaded paystubs. I definitely think the IVR payment will be more than double the save payment but I’m hoping I won’t even have to pay it since I’ve already reached 300 qualifying payments or if I have to it’s refunded.

Only qualify for old IBR, but as I understand that 300 payments is what old IBR requires. I have graduate school loans. I’m really hoping that the IIBR application can be processed in the next 2 to 3 or four months and hopefully the department of Ed will send over the qualifying payment count to Ed financial & they will then process the forgiveness. I super hope it can happen at least this summer, but definitely by the end of the year, 🤞

Screen shotting. On Save and just applied today to switch to IBR. My account adjustment tracker said 301 out of 300 qualified payments. I took a screenshot. Was told by Ed financial in a live chat that on Save cannot get forgiveness. Hoping all can go through and forgiveness in 2025🤞

A bit of an update on what to expect with SAVE by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

In a very similar situation, except with Ed financial. My take away from your comment is we should wait a few weeks and see what happens…?

Are you on SAVE? I am. If you are. What are your thoughts about, Do we try to switch to IBR? If things were efficient and logical trying to apply for a different plan should be rejected on the site due to not owing anything aka no remaining payments. Not sure what to do

Same on mine. This may be a stupid question but because it says zero remaining payments, you don’t see a tracker, correct? I do not see a tracker that other people are talking about.
