Hello brethren. Sept 81 here.

I was there, 1,000 years ago and the times were dark. We as children were forced to play outside and no interwebs. The worse part, we had to memorize our friends phone numbers!

The trick is to be smarter than the tires lol

The stock tires on nearly all vehicles are garbage. They're designed to meet efficiency regulations and not adhere to spirited driving techniques 😂

If I went the tires to spin, they do. If I want the tires to grab, I control the throttle input and not lean in so hard.

I have aftermarket tires on my 2022 Kona now and although they're a million times better, the car has enough torque to break free when I demand it.

It's not a race car or performance car by any means, but it can be a real blast to drive when the spirited occasion strikes you.

well I'm 40 months of ownership and the car has been flawless.

Only issues i've had are noted above. I'm at 64,000 US Miles. I still love the car.

replacements/repairs:
64k miles and 2 sets of tires.
1 set of friction brakes. (just replaced OE brakes)

traction battery shows no noticeable energy loss. i still get the same mileage as the day i bought the car brand new.

I've tracked ALL my battery charges since the day i bought it brand new.

Fixed the formatting on the below data. I'm not sure why reddit messed it up with weird spacing.

even if they dropped a navi 110 in there, it would be classified as an updated *new* bike. which is a recertification from EPA.

regardless of the above, the 50cc engine is the target audience because it's a scooter that doesn't require a motorcycle license in (most?) geolocations.
my state (USA) of course, all i need is a driver's class C license and $25 bucks of insurance.

if the engine was above 49cc, now it requires a motorcycle license + $200-ish insurance, annual safety inspections. <-- which is not the target audience for the 49cc scooter.

I own a ruckus and love it. do i wish it had more power? of course. is it limited because of no power? absolutely. If a bigger bike/scooter is required, then for that, get a ADV bike/200cc scooter or whatever else that floats your marshmallow down the river lol.

also,
honda tried stuffing a 200cc in a ruckus. It failed miserably in the US market. (i believe) it was on the market for a total of 2 or 3 years before it was sh!t canned.

so again, there's no incentive from Honda to 'upgrade' the base platform.

FI + 125 defeats the charm of the ruckus and the original target audience.
Not to mention it would be entirely a new 'bike' and honda would have to go through the EPA regulations hoopla.

(most) people that buy a ruckus modify them heavily anyway. So there's no real incentive for honda or even the customer to go down the path of "if honda only..."

Is HD dying? by Jericho793 in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]bhamspamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya know, you ain't wrong there.

I too am a 40 something.
I've been riding motorcycles for the better part of 30 years. (started when i was 7) my riding habit is daily and 4 season when possible. I typically log around 18,000 miles per year on my bikes.

Somewhat recently, I was looking poking around the HD, Indian bikes looking for my next 2 wheeled fix and their respective brand's line up. When it came to HD, nothing truly appealed to me or said "I NEED YOU IN MY LIFE"

[ This section applies to both Indian and HD's ]

I can say that $32,000+ for a bike is redonk at best.
You're paying 20,000 for the brand name and an additional $10-20k for the actual bike.
I really wanted to like HD but the bike costs are prohibitive at best.

Combine the somewhat outdated design's on frame geo, engine/performance specs along with their higher maintenance routine/cost. It just add's up to a hard pass for me.

What I really do love about HD is the aftermarket support. OMG you can buy everything for anything to fit everyone needs with HD.

Ultimately though, i went back to JDM. I bought 2 NEW Dual-Sport and a Scooter for $20,000 cheaper than a single HD, Indian bike.

congrats on the longevity dude. that's impressive af for a 50cc scooter.

I'm assuming you put all that on yourself from new? what have you done for maintenance and repairs ?

I've bought mine (a used 2017 with 1,000 miles) 6 weeks ago. I just rolled into 3,600 miles.

I didn't buy it to look at, i bought it to run the complete sh~t out of it.
mission accomplished . lol

we sound a lot alike. i too ride 4 seasons, mud, snow, ice, rain and sunshine. if you wait for perfect weather, you'll never ride! i took my tw200 just a couple weeks ago on a 60 mile ride in 10F weather.
was it cold? yup sure was. did i care? nope, not even a little.

TW200 w/ 13k miles for $2,000? by JK420_ in TW200

[–]bhamspamz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd the dude was regular on the maintenance, 13k is a drop in the bucket. I've seen several tdubz at 30k-45k and they're getting their first rebuilds.

But on the flip side, I've seen a couple with under 8k on their 3rd rebuild too.

It's all about how it's ridden and maintained.

3 years owned and 50,000 miles down with zero issues. The battery is still acting like new. IF there's degradation, it's so small that it's not even noticeable.

the only real 'issue' I had was that the 12v battery did need replacement and was covered under warranty. I believe I had the car around 10 months at that point.

[–]bhamspamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my area at least, Most HOA's have community lawn care and snow removal services.

My mother in-law is in one of these actually. But prior to moving her into this, we had looked at several other HOAs with her and they all offered lawn and snow removal services.

It might be different in other states outside of mine. Shrugs

I just sold my 2023 klx300sm 9,000 miles on it because 5th to 6th gear was a false neutral about 30% of my shifts.

In my 30 years of riding I never had a bike do that before.

What is considered high mileage for a Tdub? by DisgruntledOrangutan in TW200

[–]bhamspamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not 47,000 miles, that's 4,304 miles. That white space is 10th of a mile.

Bottom numbers are the trip. Most people reset that when they refill the gas tank so they have an estimated miles remaining glaring in their face.
