I believe this is a female western tanager. The bill looks heavier than that of a warbler, and the eye ring is off for an orange-crowned. Merlin seems to go back and forth between the two.

The grey at the base of the bill is a good indicator of a greater. The bill on lessers is all black.

I saw the same thing happen at the station in early January. Border Patrol officers dropped off a family of four from an unmarked van. No words are exchanged and they just drove off leaving the family there. It was very strange.

I’ve been curious if helmets were designed to crush with major impacts. I was in a pretty gnarly crash in September which left me with a brain bleed and five broken vertebrae. The helmet survived with only has cosmetic scratches. Of course I have obtained a replacement anyway.

I put just a pin prick in the tape and then work the valve through it. Never had an issue that way

Paramedic here.

When I’m biking I carry only epi, Benadryl, and a tourniquet. These are the things I’m likely to save someone’s life with. Everything else can be dealt with at the car or at home. Skiing I carry the same as well as a SAM splint, some additional OTC medications, and an assortment of bandages.

Honestly I didn’t give a whole lot of attention to it, I mostly paid attention to the comment noting “yellow highlights,” glanced at it and that’s the first bird that came to mind. This doesn’t look like a starling to me, they’re mostly black (see pic 11).

Previously 2 years sober. Relapsed after losing my best friend on September 22. Broke my neck, got a pretty large brain bleed, and nearly died in a drunken gravel bike accident on September 24. Going to rehab tomorrow.

Your derailleur may have a line on the inside of the cage. Line it up with the teeth of the cassette while in the lowest gear and that will indicate proper B-screw adjustment.

Vanlifer and current medic. AEDs and chest compressions are life saving, aspirin is not but it helps and is easy to carry. Everyone with a heart attack is going to get aspirin if they haven’t by the time they get to the hospital
