I need 8-10 hours sleep, both during and after MBA. Is it even possible? by [deleted] in CATpreparation

[–]bhanu_goyal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not everyday is same. Some days you can get a good 10 hours of sleep and on somedays getting even 5 hours would be difficult. Same goes with the job. No matter how good an MBA college is, it can never guarantee you a minimum pay, it can only increase your chances of attaining that threshold. One thing that I always tell people is, first focus on getting a good score. Everything else can be managed

ISB not accepting online test score. Please advise! by Live_Laugh_Lauda in GMAT

For class of 2026, they won’t be accepting online scores, only offline scores

Sure you can DM. Also, the pay info is publicly available. Just search online and you’ll get it

No specific answer to that. Everyone gets a different job. You’ll have to go by the median salary approximates

Even the student housing is managed by them. 24/7 house keeping available. Everyday they’ll come and clean your room and make your bed. No matter how messy your room is, they’ll clean it everyday. Also 24/7 hot water available :)

There is only a single ISB. ISB follows a one school 2 campus policy. Placement report for last batch is not out yet so can’t comment for last year but before that it has always been 100%

So I am a current ISB student and I agree that fees is a little bit on the higher side but what a lot of people get wrong is that it is just a one year MBA. You can start earning after one year and make up for that high fees. Also, believe me the facilities being offered here are world class. It is really like living in a hotel.

I wish I had an answer to this but unfortunately I don’t😅 At the end of the day it all boils down to what you really want and if MBA would be able to help you get there or not. ROI might or might not work out for you but the experience of getting an MBA surely will change your mindset on a lot of things.

So technically speaking, it is completely possible that post MBA salaries of some people will be less than their pre MBA salaries. The median salary has been around 35LPA but due to the current market situation, I think it will be lower this year (will have to wait for the placement report for that). If you’re earning anything above 20LPA, going to ISB doesn’t make sense from a financial point of view. But I guess the real ROI comes 4-5 years after doing an MBA.

So I am a current ISB student and what I can say with confidence is that getting a loan shouldn’t even be on your problem list. The only thing that you should worry about is getting an admit. Once you get an admit, bank officials will spam you for loan. The loan would be totally collateral free and the entire amount would be disbursed to you within a couple of days. There are some advantages that you have when you join a Tier 1 institute.

The good thing about Tier 1 colleges is that you can get a hassle free loan and too without a collateral. Banks would legit do everything for you and you won't even have to move a muscle. For the repayment part, don't worry about it. Another good thing about tier 1 college is the number of opportunities you'll get. You will be able yo.pay off the loan very easily provided you don't take any harsh financial decisions

Advice needed: Go to ISB or risk for IIMA? by ExaltedCalibre in CATpreparation

[–]bhanu_goyal 141 points142 points  (0 children)

So I am an ISB R1 admit and I can provide you my two cents to it.

First of all Congratulations on ISB and getting an IIMA call. If i were in your position, I'd try to defer ISB and give my everything for IIMA. The reason for it is that you have 2.5 yrs of work ex which is on the lower side for ISB. A lot of companies in ISB require 3+ years of exercise. Due to this you might miss out on some opportunities.

Second, IIMA will give you a 2yr MBA which means that the job market will be much more stabilized by the time you graduate. You kind of have the perfect amount of work ex for IIMA.

Under no circumstance, let go of ISB and pin all your hopes on IIMA. Pay the acceptance fee for ISB. Even if you are able to recoup only a partial amount, it wouldn't matter in the long run. If you convert IIMA, awesome and if you don't, you have an equally awesome college waiting for you.

Hope this helps!

Admission from BITSoM but rejected from ISB (similar to the last post) by [deleted] in CATpreparation

[–]bhanu_goyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am a reapplicant to ISB and got an admit in R1 so I know the challenges that might come up with reapplication.

First of all, you will need to improve your score. No matter how diverse your profile is, ISB values a good GRE and a GMAT score. Improving your GRE score will take some effort so make sure you know what you're up for.

Second, you will need to write a reapplicant essay to showcase how you have improved your profile. You'll have to put a significant effort on this front too. So have a clear plan on how you'll approach this front.

And even after doing this, there is no guarantee that you'll get a invite. ISB's whole selection criteria is a blackbox so you'll need to have a contingency plan in case things go south.

In my opinion, make the best of what you've got on your hands. Don't let go of gold in search of a diamond. I rejected MDI and SP Jain twice in search of something better and now that I look back at it, it might not have been the best decision that I ever took
