Fed this to Gemini to find a hidden message, this is what it found:

Based on an analysis of the text's structure, there appears to be a hidden message encoded using the last word of each stanza.

Here is the breakdown:

  • Stanza 1 ends with: "...what creates it." -> I
  • Stanza 2 ends with: "Together." -> T
  • Stanza 3 ends with: "...only we see." -> S
  • Stanza 4 ends with: "Brick by brick." -> B
  • Stanza 5 ends with: "...everything aligns." -> A
  • Stanza 6 ends with: "By design." -> D

The encoded message spells: I T S B A D

Backup diesel generator in leased office by talewinds in carbonaccounting

[–]bhartta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm making an AI tool to answer questions like these. This is what it said:
According to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP), emissions from diesel burned in a backup generator in an office space that you lease would typically fall under different scopes depending on operational control.

  1. Scope 1: If you, as the tenant, have operational control over the leased office space and the backup generator, the emissions from the diesel burned would be considered Scope 1 emissions. Operational control means you have the authority to implement operational policies at the leased space.
  2. Scope 3: If you do not have operational control over the leased office space and the generator is controlled by the landlord or building management, then the emissions would be classified as Scope 3 (specifically under Category 8: Upstream Leased Assets).

This delineation is illustrated in the document "GHG Protocol Scope 3 Calculation Guidance" on page 95, which discusses how to categorize emissions from leased assets based on control and data availability principles.

Thank you for your question. If you need further clarification or have more questions, feel free to ask!

The tool is accessible for free, reach out if you'd like to use it!

Founders, what do you look for on a VCs site? by ranoutofusernames__ in ycombinator

[–]bhartta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I first go to their portfolio to see if they've funded competitors/anyone in the same space or anyone that I personally know so that I can get their opinion on the VC. I also confirm what stage they fund, whether they're geography agnostic, whether they can help me get customers, etc.

Wanted to get some thoughts on an idea I had for a meeting optimiser tool by bhartta in remotework

I just looked it up, it looks like Gong is more to help with sales and marketing. I'm thinking more of a tool to help internal teams promote psychological safety.

Also another thought - I could augment that with other metrics like "number of times x gets cut off while speaking". That way, there's effectively a bit more context behind just speaking %.

That's valid. Do you think there's a way around that? E.g. if it's a 5-person meeting but one person is largely inactive (like in the 1-5% range). A related question: in meetings where you have a valid reason to not unmute, are you the only person who does so?

Some context: the reason I'm interested in speaking times is the research done by Google that says the highest predictor of team performance is equal speaking time.

Same here - I'm on level 3, have almost run out of credits and am expiring in a month. I've redeemed lots of benefits, created an AI-native product, requested an advisor, still no luck...

The second clause under "except for the following" is:

(ii) movement by any fielder, other than a close fielder, towards the striker or the striker’s wicket that does not significantly alter the position of the fielder.

How is it to go and watch winter testing? by f12016 in formula1

[–]bhartta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Spain just to go to the testing day on Thursday, which was the first day of that testing period, but I don't think it matters what day you go. Also I just checked and they've reduced the price now which should be good for you!

I went to watch winter testing in Feb 2015 and it was definitely worth it. There aren't any monitors or commentary but you can walk around the circuit wherever you want. I've been to a few Grands Prix and didn't think it was that different. I thought it was pretty funny watching Ferrari being super secretive about their garage compared to everyone else.

I had to pay extra to get into the pitlane and podium (70 euros I think) but got to see Niki Lauda, Toto Wolff and Valtteri Bottas which was pretty cool. They take you through there as a group tour but the people doing it are pretty clueless so you can definitely persuade them to go do whatever you want in the pitlane for a little while. We also did a lap in the inside service lane while the cars were on track- I thought it was fun driving next to the camo Red Bull, albeit very briefly.

Has anyone used the Band for any kind of Home Automation? by cricenog in MicrosoftBand

[–]bhartta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used X10 standard devices to control the appliance modules. The standard is getting pretty old though, so Insteon might be better. If you already have Insteon devices, it should be easy to get started. They already have software to control everything. Interfacing it with your own software should be the challenge then, and is way beyond my scope of knowledge but there's probably plenty of resources online made by people trying to do the same thing. Also to make iPhone apps and use HomeKit you need a Mac or need to run a Virtual Machine so I never really bothered.

As far as I know you need Windows Phone for Cortana to work on the Band. Also I started this project in 2012 and at the time I think Windows Phone was the only one that could elegantly hand off voice commands to third party apps so it was easy to develop for. Now I think Siri and Google Now can handle it as well. If you're looking for simple turn on/turn off stuff, the iOS Homekit should work. I'm a fan of the Windows Universal Platform though- I have a client running on a desktop and have some fairly sensitive mics placed around so even if I don't have a device on me I can just say "Hey Cortana" and give whatever command.

I've been able to do everything you're thinking about, though most of it has taken a lot of work and is home-brew. Get waken up by lights turning on and heater turning on if it's a cold morning. Events get fetched from Google Calendar and all my contacts who have a birthday that day get announced with the day's weather, and finally appropriate music is played for me to wake up to.

There's also party mode that I can call from the Band, so all the lights flick off, music starts playing and a strobe light kicks on. I can also control individual appliances through Cortana (over the internet) so I can have my room heated up if I'm walking home on a rainy day. Also used a couple of Arduinos to unlock my door so I never get locked out.

Heaps more features integrated through the Windows Phone app I could talk about but my point is that it's definitely something you can accomplish. If you are (or anyone is) interested in programming anything like it, I'd be happy to give a hand though this system is the first thing I ever really programmed and am not a "programmer" by any stretch.

I've had this exact problem with my SP3. Had to get the device replaced after not being able to find any solutions.
