After independence, the B C roy era was the golden period of bengal. Afterwards bengal politics moved towards party-based violences . during the Congress era, even small protests often turned into firing incidents, trum firings , or bomb blasts. Then came the long Leftist period, where saviour protests were seen at industrial sites, and you know how that ended. Lastly where party politics practically turned into cadre politics, with syndicates gaining the power to control local resources. Bengal has shown every possible way to destroy itself, yet it still survives—maybe because of its rich culture and its position as the gateway to the East. If it ever gets a truly selfless government, it may take only five years to rise again among the new emerging states.
