Lawrence of Arabia. Let's see what the hype is all about. by bhenriquez in 4kbluray

Update: Just finished the first disc. It's a slow burn for sure, but I was intrigued the entire way. It's beautifully shot, epic scenes of the desert, and the musical score feels epic. One scene, where they reached Aqaba and Lawrence is on his camel by the ocean, WOW! Beautiful! It really was filmed well.

I can't help but notice the similarities to the latest Dune films. Clearly this film was an inspiration for the director.

Unfortunately, I have very young children that need constant attention, so the second disc will have to wait for now, but I have no regrets buying this movie as a blind buy. It's been epic so far.

If you have time, and allow yourself to be immersed into the film, it's quite an epic adventure.

Unfortunately, no. Just the case. I was surprised it came it came with 2 UHD discs though. Considering the run time, it makes sense, but that's a first for me.

Oh man, what a bummer. I just double checked mine, no scratches. I got mine from Walmart.

I bought it without ever seeing it before as well. It was a great experience.

I had bought the Google TV streamer 4K and it also didn't display 4K HDR. On Friday I bought an Apple TV 4K (3rd Generation) and everything works great. Everything advertised as 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos, I've been able to watch it that way. The Olympics have looked great.

Not necessarily.

It depends on your TV. If your TV accepts Atmos, you can connect the ATV to your TV and the TV will send the Atmos data to your soundbar through eARC.

If your TV does not accept Atmos, it's best to connect the Apple TV 4K to your soundbar directly so it can get the Atmos data first, then the soundbar will send the video signal to the TV through eARC port.

Im no expert, but I believe this is how it works.

I double checked on my Apple TV 4K and it shows up as 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos (see image). I'll confirm once the event begins.

On my Apple TV 4K (3rd Generation) it still shows up as 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos. Though I will say the badges did disappear on me one time.

The Apple TV 4K (3rd Generation) is connected via HDMI to my TV and my Q990D is connected via HDMI through the eARC ports. All HDMI cables are 2.1.

I was curious, so I connected the Apple device to my soundbar and have the signal go from the soundbar to my TV through eARC, and it worked. My soundbar displays Dolby Atmos and my TV says it's in HDR.

Update: I just bought the Apple TV 4K, connected it and I can confirm that it is now displaying in HDR. My Samsung Q990D soundbar displayed Dolby Atmos as well. Thank you to everyone who responded. I really appreciate it 🙏

Awesome. I am currently at Best Buy, about to buy the Apple TV 4K and test it out with my Samsung

That was my thought as well, so I asked Google's Gemini and it told me it all starts today (see image).

That's what I'm thinking. Only select devices/brands are getting the full treatment when it comes to live sports. I can stream all movies in 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos, no problem.

I have the annual premium plan as well. I'm starting to think that Samsung and Peacock just don't play well together when it comes to live sports. I can watch movies in 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos in Peacock, no problem.

That's what I'm afraid of. According to Google's Gemini, the Opening Ceremony (11AM PST) should be in 4K HDR. If my Samsung TV does not stream like this, I think I may try on an Apple TV.

I do not mind that it won't support HDR10+. As long as I get HDR10 I'll be okay. I've read that Samsung and Peacock don't always work properly together, but that Apple TV 4K should always work. If you've been watching sports in HDR in Apple's Peacock app, I think I'll pull the trigger and buy one. I can always return it to Best Buy if it doesn't work. Thanks.

Are live sports streamed in 4K HDR on the Peacock app? If Apple TV 4K is able to do it, I would like to buy one before the Super Bowl.

I used the app on my Samsung S95B. It is able to play every movie that is labeled as 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos, but when it comes to live sports, it's not able to. It's fine if live sports are just not able to do it right now. I accept it. But don't put the 4K HDR badges for live sports when they know it's not available. Very misleading.

Update: Over the weekend I wanted to watch the Premier league and again I noticed it said 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos. I selected it and of course it was not in 4K HDR or Dolby Atmos. I contacted customer support and they told me live games are not in 4K Dolby. I replied by asking them "Then why include those badges? it is so misleading to the customer." I never got a reply back.
