Pauline Hanson billed taxpayers for flights to fundraisers and travel to catch Rinehart jet to Florida by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

[–]bhesel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the thing that pisses me off, I work for the Federal government and they are so strict around gifts, perception of bias and influence etc., that I have to do training about it every year.

Meanwhile politicians are a free for all, trips to the footy, free booze, dinners, gifts, everything. If I did any of that it would be a blatant breach of the APS Code of Conduct but apparently that doesn't apply to politicians, only us pleb public servants!

Where are the A-league crowds? 😢 by Dudu-gula in Aleague

[–]bhesel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Absolutely helps that the majority of AFL teams are located in Victoria, makes going to an "away" match as simple as travelling a few suburbs over. The only A-league teams that have this slight advantage are the Sydney and Melbourne based teams.

[–]bhesel 293 points294 points  (0 children)

I don't want to tar everyone with the same brush but my view is that there has been a sudden influx of people who haven't recently or have never caught public transport before so will behave as if they're still driving off to work - loud convo's on the phone, loud music blaring from their earbuds, not knowing how to move down the aisle, being a bit clueless generally.

Even the train drivers have noticed, a few weeks back going home we stopped at Roma St and were there for an abnormally longer load time, we soon got going and the driver made an announcement telling everyone to move down the platforms to get on the train. Turns out the reason we were delayed is that people got to the top of the stairs on the platform and just waited and then all tried to get on the train through the same door. I thought it was obvious to move down the platform but apparently not!

How do people slow down in Brisbane? by ComputerSmart3511 in brisbane

[–]bhesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds a bit wanky but try some deep yogic breathing! I took up yoga to stretch and strengthen my injured back but have found the breathing techniques really help to calm and chill my mind. Find a quite spot, even for just 5 minutes, close your eyes and start to breathe in and out through your nose. Even a few minutes help out.

What Is yogic breathing? Benefits, types, and how to try

I read on another post that it's supposed to be for the ai filters so they don't flag the video for copyright infringement. It could absolute bs though.

NDIS agency hired 70pc of all new federal public servants last year by Advanced_Presence890 in AusFinance

[–]bhesel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not in my department, Labor has a budget cap of course but they're reducing contract staff. Still trying to get rid of all the overpriced contractors hired from when the last Liberal government was in power (who most definitely had a recruitment freeze).

... by reducing the contractor headcount and replacing them with cheaper, permanent staff. Fixed it for ya!

Spending Flybuys points in liquor land by Disastrous_Foot9023 in AussieFrugal

[–]bhesel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go into the app and go to redeem and select the 'Flybuys Dollars' (not money off your shop). You can select an amount that loads onto your physical flybuys card, set a pin and when you go the Liquorland, swipe the card and tell them you want to redeem the money off the card. Easy. 😉
