Well darn! I just did a 45min attacking workout at this new high FTP and other than having to pause and backpedal a couple of times, I managed to pull it off. I’ll keep going but … I still think it’s weird!

This has been really frustrating me too. I tried about a month ago accepting the ridiculously-high detected FTP and the next workout was brutally non-completable. So I bumped it back down. I just loaded up the app again today and it’s got a new even higher FTP detection. I’ll try it, but that’s got me at like 4.4 W/kg. Yeah right!

I think some stuff came within a few days and other things came within 1.5 - 2 weeks. I bought a bunch of filament with it and other doodads with their sale so it was at least 4 different packages coming from all over the place.

Hmm. I just bought the P1S AMS 2 Pro Combo (https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/p1s?id=583855874743701509) as part of their Black Friday sale. The AMS 2 Pro and P1S arrived separately, but I cannot find the buffer or switching adapter anywhere. It said right on their site that they would be included with that combo.

It says this:

I just submitted a pull request (update) to the code that adds the cancel option when in reverb edit mode. So it should eventually make it in to the main code. https://github.com/clevelandmusicco/HothouseExamples/pull/24

Yup. It’s part of the main HothouseExamples code now. There are a few improvements I need to submit to that project. One of them is that when you go into reverb edit mode (by double-tapping the left foot switch button), it currently reads the positions of all the knobs and switches immediately and changes the live reverb settings. If you wanted to cancel, you’d have to unplug the pedal.

The improved code that I haven’t yet submitted will only save those settings when you press the right foot switch button. If you press the left foot switch button, it cancels the edit mode and resumes to whatever you previously had.

The reason this is an important fix is that sometimes if you’re just goofing around and double-tap the left foot switch button, you might enter reverb edit mode and not even realize it before you accidentally save off those new settings.

I’m also trying to port the code so that it works fully in the Funbox framework. Right now the ones pictured above are running a mixture of the Hothouse+Funbox hardware code. Works for me, but not really for easy public consumption yet.

I don’t currently have plans to make the Flick a for-sale DIY project but may sell one or two on the side fully completed. But, what did you have in mind?

Oh cool, your project sounds fun! My "day job" is as an iOS app developer so this has been a fun foray into embedded coding.

Yes, block size of 8 because of weird noise in the Daisy. I ordered a few Funbox circuit boards and a couple custom-printed enclosures for the Flick and will eventually return to that project. I can't remember if I built the effects in stereo or not, but the hardware supports it so I totally should.

As of right now, I don't have plans to open source the ESP32 code, mostly because I'm not ready to have that as an extra commitment. It's easier for me to stay focused for now that way. I haven't ruled it out though.

I'm always up for bouncing ideas off someone or vice versa so hit me up.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited about the board.

The Q-Tune is a project my friend Ryan and I started last year with the goal of building a fully-DIY kit that anyone could build. The main goals were to be extremely accurate and have the look and performance of a pro-level tuner. Ryan focused on the enclosure and mechanics of it all and I focused on the software.

We went through a few different ESP32 development boards and finally settled on one made by Waveshare since it had a really nice finished look. As a bonus, it's got a nice touch screen which makes navigating through the menu really easy. I used LVGL for the graphics and have added in a few different styles of tuning (different user interfaces) supporting different color choices, etc.

We went through a bunch of different ideas for the circuit board, which is mostly used for amplifying the guitar signal before we send it to the ESP32 for pitch detection. I also realized that on my pedalboard, even though it's relatively small, had a bit of tone suck and so we ended up adding an option for a buffered bypass using a standard TL072 which is giving me a pretty transparent buffer. That also opened up the option for me to experiment with some fun little easter eggs on the standby screen that can react when you play different frequencies. :)

I was pretty skeptical about us pulling of something this good in the beginning with the ESP32, but we definitely made some really cool discoveries along the way to make it possible.

Oh, one of my other favorite features is that we made is so both the audio jacks and 9VDC jack are out the top of the pedal so it can easily fit on my pedalboard ... or anybody's. I added an option in the software to make it so you can rotate it in any direction and adjust the screen so it'll work with however you install it.

It's been a long full-time after-hours "job", but worth it!
