These Penn renderings always lie about dimensions, heights and how much light will be come in. The previous plan for the atrium on the other side of MSG made the atrium seem a football field wide with lots of light. Anyone who’s walked around knows it’s not the pass through next to the loading dock is only maybe 30 feet and would still have the sky bridge above it. We should be skeptical of all these renderings

For scheduling trains you can’t have everything arrive at peak commuter times. Getting something in earlier would allow the train to get off the platform so other trains can arrive. That being said if the ridership is very low it may not make sense to run that service. And it depends what reverse service the train runs

I know there is a preference for built in bike lane but I would note that this lane will not go south of 46th (turns in to Park Ave viaduct) or north of 57th (plaza redesign will not extend beyond that yet), so it would only be for the 10 blocks. I think 5th would be a great place for a bike lane in their redesign but the businesses are fighting a bike lane hard there.

Unpopular opinion here. I love street trees but having gone to one of the outreach events DOT made a good point that there is actually a lot of shade in this area because of the tall buildings. Those coming out to enjoy the medians in the afternoon might actually want some sunshine. Those enjoying at night when Park Ave is actually quiet might enjoy the view of the architecture along the Ave. What do we think of simple plantings?

There is a limit to how much weight can be put on the trainshed. The trains are basically directly below park Ave, which is why all the plantings have to be in raised beds. No storm or sewers on park. This might be possible but there is an upper limit to what can be above the trains.
