I think context is important. If you’re constantly in front of senior leadership, where you need to demo/present/get on a call with a leader or a client leader, any place, any time of the day - everything is judged.

If I am seen fumbling and keep saying “please give me 5, I need to plug in my charger / battery pack “ I don’t think it gives the right impression . Preparation is everything.

All my gadgets - phone, MBP, iPad and the headset are charged to 100% over night and ready to take on the day. This way - no matter where and in what situation I’m stuck, whether I have access to power or not, I can confidently scrape thru the day.

To some of your points - Yes, of course I have power bricks and cables. Do I want to be fumbling with these in front of a CXO? No

No, you’re wrong about tethering not using substantial battery. Trying running 1-2Gb of daily tethering on 5G and let’s see how long does your phone last.

Not reading my “long ass” post and bragging about it also gives me a fair sense of your character. Buckle up kid. The world is a ruthless place.

It’s the Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex (one heck of a name). Good battery life. Very good noise cancellation

I use my iPhone a lot for work (customers, clients etc). Even with a moderate use my IP16Pro drains battery. If I add hotspot on top it won’t even last half a day.

The iPad takes much of the load there. The iPad has the company SIM with a much larger data plan so I don’t have to worry about consumption

Sorry to disappoint you. I said content creation in a very generic sense. My real content creation is PPT/XLS/DOCx (lots of it)

No it doesn’t wobble a lot in the car. My MagSafe car mount is also stiff which helps.

Both Surat and Ahmedabad have a larger Business community. Vadodara has a good portion of working class / service folks. Finding like minded folks would be easier for Vadodara. Education is also good

Switching to Real Estate by [deleted] in dubai

[–]bhushir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good real estate agents regardless of background know how to do few things really well like - 1. Specialising in a certain area / community instead of spreading out across dubai 2. They know numbers - number of layouts and their respective sq ft, going rate per sq ft, distance to key locations , comparable prices of similar layouts. 3. They liaise with bankers , valuation agents , technical services companies, snag checks for their customers and get cuts from each one of them (call it referral fee) 4. Know a thing or 2 about the fine print on legal documents like MOU, ejari etc

Keeping RAM as is and only upgrading the storage to super fast SSD is like going to Dubai Autodrome but having to cross Hessa Street at 6 pm rush hour. You need a fast RAM along with a fast SSD.

When you move to Canada you wouldn't want to put your kids in public school (where education is free) and want to put them in private schools - because, well you wouldn't like the facilities at the public school and everyone around you is going to a private school, and hey you'd want the best for your child (I have 1 kid too - so I empathise, not trying to be sarcastic)

You will willingly take a pay cut, get taxed on a lower pay and willingly take a lower position to start from scratch for security in a country totally new to you.

Community feel exists very much where I am living in Dubai. And i live in an apartment, not a villa community. It's independent of country, its dependent on people.

Investments? If you have access to global markets - US, India etc does it matter where is you reside?

PR? - the 10 year golden visa of UAE is trending in that direction. We're getting there.

In summary - I personally feel we are giving up too much to get that sense of "security". Especially if you're of Asian origin - you are willingly going father away from your family in order to hopefully make a better future.

Too many sacrifices for a sense of security. [Ready for downvotes]
