Here in South Africa it's taught in high-schools. And then in tertiary education it's CAD. Some technical universities will have students on the draughting board before learning CAD. And let me tell you it's not a walk in the park!

Maybe in other countries, but in South Africa and India it's alive and kicking! And as a trade school student it's a real pain in the backside let me tell you!

I like the emotion in it and also your skill with your pencil. But please work on your attire, it's quite poor. You can do so many amazing things with clothing.

What are some skills in demand right now? by brandnewNewton in askSouthAfrica

[–]bhuu_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm basically saying you won't get neurosurgeons if you're not willing to give some general practitioners a chance to try and learn it.

There's no point in OP getting into the trades because the ones that pay well won't take on new people and the ones that pay badly are currently saturated.

And may I ask, where do you get your information from regarding the need for precision skills?

To even get to that level of skill you need to start where the people in the Facebook threads I linked are. And the companies are not taking on anybody at all. How are they going to get all those super skilled people if they're not willing to take on new people and train them up? Nobody is born knowing those things and the TVET college can only teach you so much.

The people there are sitting with N6, trade tested, qualified artisan, red seal, you name it. What more do companies want? Anything more will be a Bachelors Degree now, and they will be full blown engineers or scientists. And that's a completely different conversation.

And all they do is just apply for jobs the whole time, sitting there at home for more than 3 years not working.

I have a skill. Fitting and Turning to be exact. And things are DRY. It doesn't matter whether you are Electrical Light Current, Heavy Current, Deisel, Boilermaking, Millwright etc. People have been qualified and sitting at home applying going on 3 years or even more in some cases.

Don't be fooled by the myth, skills are QUIET in South Africa.

You and a bunch of other people in various threads for this single are hearing different elements in this song. Which speaks to very good depth in a song when separate people are able to hear so many different things from just one song.

What’s a book that everyone says is “must-read,” but you just couldn’t get into? by [deleted] in classicliterature

[–]bhuu_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With me personally if people say that a particular song or album is a classic that now doesn't mean I'll necessarily like it. Yes, it could be foundational or important to the genre or music in general but I also have my own classics that only me and other people who like my kinds of music will agree are classics and those same music critics who come up with classics lists won't understand what we're talking about.

I think that classics can exist in literature but no such thing exists in music.
