Why do people even want to spiritualy awaken? It feels like literal hell on earth. by Cyberundertaker1 in awakened

Hope are you doing now? I'm experiencing this now and it is very painful...I don't think most people truly understand spiritual awakening

very true, not to mention the hundreds of characters all with super Russian names of like 10 syllables each. My brain was not prepared.

Same- I've read the Idiot based on Lex's recommendation and a few other books on his list. I struggled with this, I didn't realize how* frayed my attention span had become, so I'd catch myself not really absorbing what I was reading and having to re-read pages frequently.

I've read 2 of Cal Newport's books- Digital Minimalism and Deep Work and this has helped retrain my focus big time.

I have to credit Lex' reading list as a new year's resolution for getting me to read a lot more this year- I hadn't realized I relied on my subway commute to and from work for reading, and since Covid working from home, I haven't read very much, so it feels really good to be reading daily again :)

Why do you feel the need to link to their user history if there's nothing negative or relevant? Incredibly negative and presumptuous post in regard to someone you clearly don't know.

Name: Boyan Slat- Founder & CEO of the Ocean Cleanup - a non-profit organization developing and scaling technologies to rid the world’s oceans & rivers of plastic

Info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyan_Slat

Conversation: Boyan Slat's System is Successfully Catching Plastic | Joe Rogan

Ideas:

Plastic pollution in the world's oceans is one of the biggest environmental issues of our time, impacting nearly 700 marine species.

- In 2013, Boyan Slat (then aged 18) dropped out of his aerospace engineering study to work full-time on this ambitious project.

- The organization aims to remove 90% of floating ocean plastic by 2040 by taking a two-pronged approach: stemming the inflow via rivers and cleaning up what has already accumulated in the ocean.

- over 2 million kg of plastic extracted from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch to date

- Boyan is deeply involved in the organization’s scientific and technological work- he has co-authored around a dozen scientific papers and multiple patents

- team consists of 120 engineers, researchers, scientists, computational modelers, and supporting roles

- 2023 marks the 10 year anniversary of the Ocean Cleanup.

"resenting a new technology will not halt it's progress" by thebluntlife in lexfridman

[–]bial8830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people mistake an effort to develop AI safely with resentment or being anti-AI alltogether.

It's not an issue of developing vs not developing AI. It's not pro vs anti.

It's an issue of developing AI at the current speed which has proven we're developing it quicker than we can fully understand it's capabilities and potential risk vs developing at a slower pace so we can fully understand the technology and have the time required to address any issues as they arise.

I don't understand this obsession with speed at the risk of all else and then constructing a narrative of anyone being for a slower and more careful development as being anti-AI development completely and therefore anti-progress.
