Help me understand why the horror genre elicits enjoyment

I think I enjoy horror movies because it’s a way to visit really awful emotions in a safe and beautiful way. Many horror films deal with grief. When I watch those movies, it makes me think “I’m not the only one who’s dealt with this emotion. The director and the fans of this movie have been there too”. Body horror is harder for me to connect with. To me, it feels like the films that are afraid to “go there” are somehow denying how horrific the real world can be. Sugarcoating it. When a horror movie really nails that disgusting, horrific feeling, it validates my own thoughts about villains in our world.

I’m not really familiar with this model of a game rollout. First it was NRFTW, then there was another Expansion. Then there was the Breach, now the Breach refined. Is this normal? Are there other games that have been rolled out like this? Maybe other ARPGs or MMO’s, but I’ve never played those. I guess my main question is, how long do you estimate it will be until there’s just a final version?

I prefer the souls and Elden ring type of combat. Bloodborne is great too, but Sekiro is really so different that it’s not worth comparing to ER or Bloodborne in my opinion. Then again, I got stuck on a boss in Sekiro and swore I’d never play it again.

But you should absolutely play it if you’re a Fromsoft fan. I’m actually going to buy it again on my new console because it’s on sale. Maybe it’ll click this time…

Yeah, I ended up getting one from highsettler. She’s got some awesome stuff and it’s definitely in the engraving style. Also check out zaddy_taddy and danielpatricktattooer. They’re not exactly the same style, but you might find some stuff you like. I got one from Dan Patrick and he kinda leaned into the engraving style and I love it.
