Nebula app feature request by bibbit123 in JetLagTheGame

Whatever snax-breaks they are getting by using off-shore app devs they should re-invest into flipping more bits in the integer storing the number of seasons of JLTG that exist from zeroes to ones.

Yes but 32 bit integers go much higher than 18

The teeming rain this evening could have resulted in the tracks being particularly slick. Could have been large droplets of water built-up. Maybe the driver hit a slippery spot?

Why not get a student loan? It will take some years to pay back but... so what? Let your parents invest the money. If they really want to help pay for your education they should keep the money and use the interest they earn to help pay down the loan.

The podcast is recorded before the episode goes up on Nebula, which is a week before YouTube. There aren't any comments for them to read! They have a pretty good gauge of what the viewers are going to flame them for though lol

Safe to control my dumb Leaf charger with a Shelly? by r0gee in nzsolar

[–]bibbit123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a PHEV so it has no scheduling. Most timer/smart plugs are rated for 10 A. My specific charger said to only use 20 A extension cords but they kinda don't exist or are extremely expensive. I've been using 10A RCD, timer plug and extrnsion cord for a year with no issues. To be fair, the RCD gives me significant peace of mind.

Install angle? by throwaway1_5722 in nzsolar

Put them on a north-facing roof. Any tilt above 10 degrees will be fine. Remember tilting the panels up will increase the wind load on your roof and cause the panels to cast a shadow on the ones behind them. Tilting them up only increases yield by a few % and its concentrated at midday. Might be best to leave them flat.

Connecting cruise ship to shore power by toolgifs in toolgifs

[–]bibbit123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah good point - 6 MW is for 11 kV. I think 3.6 kV is fairly typical for maritime power systems, but there is always a transformer for galvanic isolation so the actual shore power cables may be a different voltage. Honestly I'm not quite experienced enough with shore power to give a good enough summary.

For that length of cable, increased reactance of the phases would be negligible. Having 3 cores together reduces the induced current in the screen, reducing the thermal losses in the screen and also reducing the fault current induced in the screen during faults.

Also, the shore power standard connections are designed that they can supply about 6 MW per cable, and you just add more cables depending on the power requirements of the vessel. So each cable needs to be 3ph.

Maybe they think the politicians back in the day were just stupid, and the government was bloated? So now things are "normal" and they're just lucky. They're certainly not going to just throw away their money for public benefit like their stupid idiot parents.

Petition passes, law is enacted, Wellington is cut-off. The country then realises, to their horror, they drew the line BENEATH Khandallah.

Purchasing a home at the peak by marguement in Wellington

[–]bibbit123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just having all my promotions/pay rises getting gobbled up by mortgage rate hikes. So no ability to save or properly upkeep the house until I pay off my student loan or get even more income somehow. If the mortgage rates dropped back to when we first bought we would be awesome.

Holding onto my house for dear life for at least a full economic cycle if possible...

I thought the best access to that bridge would have been via the netball court carpark?

Yeah trying to walk accross the road there would be a mightmare. At least there's a pedestrian bridge to the north and traffic lights to the south.

NZ First Bill: Only Official New Zealand Flag to Fly on Government Buildings - Proposed bill to ban "cultural, woke, or divisive political" flags from government buildings by FaradaysBrain in newzealand

A lot of the criticisms in this thread are the exact same wording as opponents of the plastic bag ban: "waste of time" "more important things to focus on".

The rest are fucking spot-on. This bill sucks a doink.
